About the Position

Our national network of tutors and students is expanding rapidly, creating a tremendous amount of user-generated content that must be reviewed on a daily basis. We are looking to hire skilled proofreaders to assist in reviewing this content in a part-time capacity. The majority of hours in this shift will be worked from home, but this is not a 100% telecommuting position.

The ideal candidate will be:

• Excited about Wyzant's mission


• An English language expert with an excellent command of grammatical rules


• Experienced in editing for websites or other quick turnaround environments


• Able to review large amounts of content quickly and efficiently


• Comfortable with keyboard shortcuts


• Detail-oriented


• A self-starter with experience working remotely and in offices


• The recipient of an undergraduate degree or higher, preferably in English, Journalism or related field


• A master typist; a minimum speed of 55 WPM is required

Able to work all hours of the scheduled shift (posted below)

Primary Responsibilities

All new hires will be asked to carefully review and edit tutor applications, subject certifications, profile updates and other related content submitted by users to be posted on the Wyzant website. All content must meet quality standards, including proper spelling, grammar and syntax in addition to company-specific guidelines

Hours average 15-20 hours per week and include the requirements below.

While most shifts will be worked remotely, proofreaders are required to work one weekday shift in Wyzant's office, located in Bucktown. Candidates who are unable to fulfill this requirement will not be considered. We are seeking candidates who are able to work the following weekly shift:

Monday: 8AM - 12PM

Tuesday: 8AM - 12PM (IN OFFICE)

Wednesday: 8AM - 12PM

Thursday: OFF

Friday: OFF

Saturday: 9AM - 1PM

Sunday: 9AM - 1PM

Additionally, all reviewers must work one Friday or Saturday night (7-9pm) shift each month

Candidates who are unable to fulfill this schedule in its entirety will not be considered.

Compensation: $11.00/hour
