Job Description

As a Director of Engineering, you areĀ responsible for the day-to-day management of development teamsĀ of software engineers who design, test, and implement the next killer Daxko product. You will setĀ the values and vision of the teams.

As a leader, you will:

  • Be an active coach and mentor for Engineering Managers along with engineers of varying levelsĀ 
  • Be responsible for the growth of the Engineering team ā€“ including individualsā€™ career growth, skillset development, and hiring
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and trainĀ new staff.Ā 
  • OverseeĀ the daily workflow of the department.Ā 
  • ProvideĀ constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • HandleĀ discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.Ā 

You will also:Ā 

  • Align with Product Management to set the strategic direction of the productĀ 
  • Deliver business results and help define department goals
  • Provide architecture and design input of the product, with the ability to deep dive into technical detailsĀ 
  • Provide options and give input to high-level decisions about the direction of Software Engineering teams as a wholeĀ 
  • Drive agile development methodologies every dayĀ 
  • Strive to continuously improve the operations, processes, methodologies, technology choices, and practices of the teamĀ 
  • Interact with direct reports, customers, and peers to share information and improve cross-department processesĀ 
  • Strive for clarity, transparency, and openness between engineers and business partnersĀ 
  • Engage in concept discussions, and proposed technology solutions, to meet business objectivesĀ 
  • Drive engineering and agile excellence with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Focus on continuous integration / continuous deliveryĀ 

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in leading engineering teamsĀ 
  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in software engineering on global development teamsĀ 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skillsĀ 
  • Strong coordination and influencing skillsĀ 
  • Strong experience in Mobile technologies such as Objective-C, Swift, Kotlin, Java, React
  • Deep understanding and experience with development in AWS
  • Experience with Node.jsĀ 
  • Well versed in Agile development methodology, and Design PatternsĀ 
  • Knowledge of available tools, technologies, methodologies, processes, and best practices to develop softwareĀ 
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills and highly detail orientedĀ 
  • Ability to build positive relationships with internal stakeholdersĀ 
  • Demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines in a software development environmentĀ 
  • Strong Business AcumenĀ 
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent related experienceĀ 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Masters in Computer ScienceĀ
