Summary: Responsible for the administrative and relationship needs of Northern Trust's Insurance client base. Day to day duties include overseeing client's pension, corporate and other pools of assets. Maintains and develops client relationships exploring opportunities to provide additional products or services. Respond to client inquiries and other inquiries originated by internal Northern Trust groups.

Major Duties:

  1. Cultivate strong working relationships with client contacts. Demonstrate ability to add value by anticipating possible solutions and partnering with client and internal partners to implement.
  2. Exhibit an in-depth knowledge of client portfolio, ie. AUC, # of legal entities, products utilized, consultants and 3rd party data fees in place, etc.
  3. Work with internal parties throughout the bank to facilitate implementation of solutions to client needs.
  4. Research and resolve all excess cash and overdrawn cash balances in client accounts. This is for US and non US currencies.
  5. Respond as soon as possible, but no later than end of day, to all client and 3rd party inquiries. Internal inquiries should be responded to as soon as possible but no later than 24 hours.
  6. Coordinate quarterly service team meetings, include all key service team members, produce and communicate agenda, and document meeting minutes.
  7. Process activity including cash and trade movement, open/close accounts, manage restructure events.
  8. Set up and train clients on NT systems and ensure client user information is current.
  9. Document services provided, specialized procedures, and on-going written communication with clients in managing daily activity. Ensure documents such as account schematics and Service Level Descriptions are maintained and updated quarterly.
  10. Travel to client locations with RM/CE on a selected basis where revenue, new business opportunities, and/or servicing require a call.
  11. Develop an understanding of client fee billing and profitability.
  12. Develop and understanding of client's business, objectives, goals, and market challenges to ensure they are compatible with the bank's market strategy.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of Trust/Custody industry, employee benefits, asset management and/or understanding of client industries, usually acquired through work experience, is required to manage client relationships and consult on client needs.
  • Must have passion for client servicing along with proven leadership, negotiation and organization skills.
  • Knowledge of applicable industry laws and regulations, usually acquired though prior work experience.
  • Additionally, knowledge of the securities industry/operations and accounting/financial reporting, usually acquired though formal education or experience, is required in order to successfully service clients.
