Donnelley Financial Solutions (NYSE: DFIN) is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to evolve our proprietary document management system into a modern, scalable solution. You will be responsible for writing new RESTful microservices which replace current components in our ecosystem. ● Take shared ownership of complex problems and provide solutions with minimal direction.
● Analyze requirements to determine design feasibility within time and cost constraints.
● Share accountability with software development timelines.
● Design object oriented software using best-practice standards
● Implement object oriented software using defensive programming and exception handling, design patterns and object oriented programming (OOP) principles like SOLID.
● Test software with traceability back to requirements using autonomous frameworks
● Create and support Continuous Delivery workflows
● Follow and improve agile software development process and practice.
● Identify and reduce technical debt.
● Set an example of software engineering best practices that junior engineers can follow
● Support legacy VB components until they are superseded by modernization efforts
● Move business logic out of stored procedures into APIs
● Contribution to meet delivery deadlines
● Object orientation analysis & design (OOAD) is part of your daily working agile methodology, including the application of design patterns and OOP principles such as SOLID; you create class, component, sequence, system, and deployment diagrams.
● Adherence to best-practice software engineering including separation of concerns, high cohesion, low coupling, modularization, encapsulation and information hiding, interfaces & dependency injection; you can think abstractly and transform your thinking into practical implementation.
● Performance monitoring and scalability is part of your architecture and design work, not an afterthought in implementation.
● At least 7 years of software engineering experience
● Minimum 5 years experience with C#/.NET
● Experience with Visual Basic & Oracle PL/SQL
● At least 2 years experience in Test Driven Development & modern automated test frameworks
● Experience in Continuous Integration & Delivery workflows
● API-first design: building scalable RESTful APIs
Preferred Experience & Skills
● 2 years experience in front-end web engineering
● RESTful API design and publishing via IDLs like Swagger
● Relational database experience (Oracle, MS-SQL)
● Knowledge or experience with cloud platforms (Azure)
● Understanding or experience with Docker & Kubernetes
● Proficient with git & git flow branching models
● Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Math, or Computer/Electrical Engineering.
● Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills, experience working with geographically distributed teams
● Proven success delivering solutions for diverse problems
