About The Role

On the Content Marketing team, you’ll do meaningful work in an inclusive, diverse environment built for growth. If your friends and family know you as the person to go to with all spelling and grammar questions, this one is for you! G2 is looking for a copy editor to work on our global content marketing team. The copy editor will be responsible for applying copy edits and SEO edits to internal and external materials, specifically as they pertain to building category-focused content on the Learning Hub and G2’s website. 

The ideal candidate excels in a deadline-driven environment and is comfortable providing in-depth reviews to their peers while optimizing their content based on a target keyword. This person will have a strong writing and editing background, an excellent command of American English, business, and tech vernacular, and a strong understanding of how to optimize content for search engines. This person will report to a content marketing manager and will work closely with our India-based copy editor to establish and maintain an extremely high standard of excellence.

In This Role, You Will: 

  • Copy edit written materials created by our global content marketing team and freelancers.
  • Provide in-depth peer reviews for your colleagues’ content, including competitive analyses and design checks.
  • Understand and maintain our editorial processes, keeping all deadlines and working within our software stack as required to keep stakeholders informed.
  • Discover areas of improvement/opportunities with team editing processes and implement solutions alongside our India-based copy editor.
  • Optimize content for search engines and lead generation purposes; stay up-to-date on SEO and on-page optimization best practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and priorities while keeping yourself focused on goals
  • Demonstrated background in content marketing, media, and/or publishing with a specialty in copy editing.
  • Exceptional upward and lateral communication skills
  • Expert grasp on AP style editorial standards and American English.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, as well as the ability to adopt the style, tone, and voice of the Learning Hub.
  • 5 editing samples, including the original and final versions. 
  • Demonstrated background in writing and editing for SEO.
  • Excellent organizational skills to work independently and manage projects with many moving parts.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines.

What Can Help Your Application Stand Out:

  • A passion for and a strong understanding of the industry and our business’ mission.
  • Basic graphic design knowledge preferred.
  • Understanding of content management systems, HubSpot preferred.
  • Experience using SEO research tools, such as SEMrush and Ahrefs.
  • 2-3 years of marketing and content creation experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, English, communication, or journalism.
