Director of Production

Responsibilities

The Director of Production serves on the Live Bash Chicago senior management team and oversees all production department operations. This position directly provides supervision and oversight of the following positions: Technical Director, Camera Operator, Audio Engineer/Mixer, Lighting Director, Production Manager, Assistant Production Manager, and Production Assistants. The Director of Production works collaboratively with organizational leaders to determine and optimize strategy and direction for Live Bash Chicago. The Director of Production is responsible for providing overall strategic leadership in the Production department and facilitating the production process, including planning and scheduling; budgeting and allocating resources; contracting employees and designers; monitoring progress of all production elements; and maintaining high standards for all productions.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of live video production and streaming as well as the associated technologies.
• In-depth knowledge of NewTek Tricaster Production Systems and hybrid workflows.
• Strong understanding of both SDI-based and IP-based signal flows.
• Ability to create custom experiences based on individual client needs. May require quick turnarounds.
• Ability to adapt depending on production and scheduling changes.
• Experience directing or producing live productions is required as well as experience managing Union Crews and other related AV vendors.
• Working knowledge of and experience with managed networks and switches.
• This portion of the role is mainly administrative and involves monitoring of the managed network and communicating issues as they arise to the IT support team.
• Ability to anticipate common production issues and provide efficient solutions.
• Ability to remain calm and collected under pressure and solve production issues as they occur in the live setting.
• Should have a working knowledge of and experience with PTZ cameras, PTZ controllers, AV cabling, and troubleshooting various component issues.
• Background in theater production is a plus.
• 5-10 years’ experience in a live production role such as Director, Technical Director, Switcher Operator is required.
