Live Audio/Video Engineer
The Role: Morningstar seeks a Live Audio/Video Engineer to maintain and operate it’s Audio/Video Facilities in our Chicago office. The Engineer will not only maintain and operate the Audio/Video systems in our Chicago Auditorium, but will also work to maintain and operate the Audio/Video systems in our two TV Studios. The Engineer will be responsible for preparing for events, running events, and following-up on post-event tasks. The Engineer must work with a live broadcast mentality that requires being fully prepared and able to troubleshoot any issues as they arise in real-time. This role reports to the Director of Media Production.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule Auditorium events and communicate with internal “clients”
- Maintain and operate our Shure ULXD Wireless Systems
- Maintain and operate our Behringer X32 Mixing Console
- Expertly place Countryman E6 microphones on talent
- Maintain and operate our pre-existing livestream system – vMix software is used to mix, encode, and record our events
- Perform basic operation of the camera that is used for livestreaming
- Maintain and organize an archive of recorded events both locally and in the cloud
- Innovate and evolve improvements to all our live audio/video systems as needed
Requirements:
- At least four years’ experience in live audio and video environments
- Confidence and composure to troubleshoot technical issues in real-time
- A personality and demeanor that puts clients and talent at ease
- Refined organization and communication skills
- A client service focused attitude
- Experience with Shure ULXD Wireless Systems operating in a tough RF environment
- Experience with the Behringer X32 Mixing Console
- Experience with vMix Software, you’ll be expected to troubleshoot this
- Deep knowledge and experience with RTMP video livestreaming, NDI Video Transport, and other IP-based video workflows
- Working knowledge of IT infrastructure and ability to troubleshoot connectivity issues
- Working Knowledge of video exposure and how to correctly manipulate it
- An interest in personal finance and investing is a plus
