PR & Content Strategist

What will your day look like?
You will be responsible for leading the strategic implementation of Alliant's PR and content programs, and informing our content strategy, with direction from the Manager, Member Activation. The incumbent will lead public relations and content activities,
- Ensuring strategic alignment with business goals
- Building and maintaining relationships with key publications and influencers
- Identifying and coordinating proactive PR opportunities
- Identifying and coaching thought leaders in the organization
- Creating content experiences based on research, data, personas and product/member journeys
- Developing blog editorial calendar and blog SEO strategy
- Managing the day-to-day relationship with external PR firms
- Informing and implementing social media and content strategy
- Reporting on the performance of PR and social media efforts
Daily duties involve;
- Managing the relationship with Alliant's PR firm
- Fielding media requests
- Coordinating with internal SMEs
- Managing social media interactions and campaigns
- Writing and reviewing content for web, blog, mobile, and emails
- Supporting influencer-outreach efforts
- Executing promotions
- Protecting and promoting the brand online
The incumbent will also be responsible for project management activities, as assigned. The Strategist must be passionate about public relations, content, writing, and digital, and have a keen understanding of Alliant's value proposition in the marketplace. Resources to do the job require the ability to use data and strategic thinking to pivot PR and content activities based on business goals and identify innovative opportunities to elevate the brand position.

Public Relations Strategy & Implementation
- Identify proactive PR opportunities
- Write press releases, secure bylines and speaking engagements, and develop new story angles
- Conduct story mining exercises, alone and with the help of the 3 rd party agency
- Manage relationship with 3 rd party PR firmDevelops and execute a strategic plan for media outreach at conferences, events
- Create influencer strategies to help broaden reach of messaging to targeted audiences
- Coordinate and coach internal SMEs to respond to media inquiries
- Conduct media training as needed
- Report on performance of PR initiatives and advise on pivots to strategy
- Create content for award submissions and media pitches
- Maintain relationships with contacts at key publications and cultivate new strategic relationships
- Maintain Alliant listings on all third-party websites and monitor online chatter and sites to protect the brand
- Serve as backup Alliant media spokesperson
Content Strategy & Implementation
- Implement the online content marketing and social media strategy for every phase of the credit union member's lifecycle
- Develop a persona-focused communication channel strategy
- Edit content to ensure alignment with brand and SEO strategy
- Identify areas of opportunity to improve content so that it more closely aligns with brand strategy
- Track and respond to real-time online conversations, and report on online reputation management for the brand and specific campaigns
- Write optimized (SEO) original content, leveraging internal subject matter experts, and curate content that will add value to current and future members
- Develop digital campaigns, including items such as blog posts, social media ads, help menu/content for online apps, etc.
- Responsible for maintaining and growing existing credit union social networks, including Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook, in terms of reach, influence and engagement
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and marketing communications team to produce and implement digital campaigns
- Develop B2B and B2C social media paid campaign recommendations that leverages our owned media
- Advise Acquisition team and external agency regarding social media best practices as it relates to the alignment with the Marketing strategy
- Develop social media guidelines for Alliant product teams
- Identify influencers online, including bloggers, journalists and member brand ambassadors, and manage outreach to them
- Champion the interactive channel as a key strategic and tactical component of overall business and marketing plans
Digital Measurement & Project Management
- Author and maintain project schedules, campaign briefs, statements of work, and cost estimates with input from team members as needed
- Draft monthly social media metrics report with focus on actionable insights
- Prioritize projects to align with business objectives, market needs, and resource allocation
- Craft reports for Marketing, Product Managers and Member Engagement Team, among others
- Set effective benchmarks for measuring the impact of PR, social media and content programs, and analyze, review, and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results
- Monitor trends and best practices in digital communications and tools
- Assist with training and education of employees on digital media
Adhere to and ensures compliance of all business transactions with policy and process of the Bank Secrecy Act. Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, company procedures and policies. Maintain integrity and ethics in all actions and conversations with or regarding credit union members and their accounts; complies with Privacy Act directives.
Qualifications
What makes you a great fit?
You'll be a great fit if in addition to the completion of a Bachelor's degree in in English, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related, and you have:
- A minimum of five years of marketing communication, public relations, social media and/or digital marketing experience or blogging/online journalism
- Strong, proven writing skills
- Demonstrated ability to write concise, engaging and informative copy and know the difference between what makes a good blog post versus what makes a good tweet
- Strong project management, organizational and planning skills with a solid track record of successfully developing projects from start to completion
- Experience developing content and communication strategies
- Expert knowledge of social networking sites, blogs, mobile applications and online video required
- Must be proactive, have the ability to work independently, and take the initiative to stay abreast of digital and social communication trends, tools, and best practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, required
- Experience with Google Analytics, social media monitoring and management tools as well as content management systems, HTML, and SEO, required
- General interest and daily use of existing and new web technologies is a must
