Description
Sprout Social is looking to hire a Contracts Manager on the Legal team, reporting to a Senior Corporate Counsel on the Commercial team.
Why join Sprout’s Legal team?
Our Legal team is growing just as quickly as Sprout—and you will too, with varying opportunities to sharpen your craft as the business scales. You’ll have the ability to provide input and ideas to help us solve hard problems, and see the tangible results of your work. As a team, we’re committed to excellence and take our work seriously, but we try not to take ourselves too seriously. Collaborative in nature, we show up each day ready to support each other’s growth and development—and have a lot of fun doing it.
What you’ll do
- Negotiate and review basic to moderate commercial contracts with potential customers such as NDAs, service orders, and MSAs
- Liaise with the sales team on behalf of the legal team regarding the initial status of the contract negotiation cycle
- Manage Legal Service Desk, which includes contract review and other legal requests
- Responsible for helping manage our contract management platform, which includes distributing reports and engaging in document lookup and research for the commercial contracts team
- Oversee and create new processes, playbooks, and logs to streamline legal review
- Process certificate of insurance requests for customers
What you’ll bring
Our ideal candidate is a highly motivated self-starter and problem solver with strong attention to detail, exceptional communication and collaboration skills, and several years of relevant experience. You can execute projects accurately, balance shifting priorities, and learn on the fly. You seek out efficiencies so that your life and the lives of others are constantly made easier. You are curious, resourceful, dynamic, and happy to jump into less familiar areas.
The minimum qualifications for this role include:
- BA or BS degree or equivalent experience
- 4+ years of experience reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, such as NDAs, MSAs, service orders, statements of work, and renewal agreements
- Knowledge of contract clauses, ability to spot legal issues – including understanding which issues to raise for escalation, and expertise in clearly communicating legal issues with colleagues, as necessary
Preferred qualifications for this role include:
- Experience guiding business teams on the contracting process
- Prior experience with a fast-growing SaaS company
- Prior experience with contracts management platforms
How you’ll grow
Within 1 month, you’ll plant your roots, including:
- Complete Sprout Social’s new hire training and onboarding program alongside other new Sprout team members. You’ll gain a better understanding of our products and how your role fits into the organization.
- Partner with our Legal team leadership to define priorities, best practices, and key success metrics for your role.
- Learn about the Sprout Social organization, with a specific focus on our legal, sales and success, sales enablement, and sales operations teams.
- Develop an understanding of the processes related to contract review and negotiation with our customers.
Within 3 months, you’ll start hitting your stride by:
- Assist with revisions to NDAs, MSAs, service orders, and renewal agreements with customers.
- Assist with legal responses for customer RFPs.
- Manage Legal Service Desk.
- Process certificate of insurance requests from customers.
- Assist with ongoing maintenance of our playbooks, and legal resources.
Within 6 months, you’ll be making a clear impact through:
- Own NDAs, MSAs, service order revisions, and renewal negotiations with our customers.
- Drive critical project management for the commercial team.
- Work cross-functionally with sales enablement and sales operations teams to implement process improvements and create new self-service resources for the commercial team.
- Update internal logs on key commercial contracts for tracking purposes.
- Work with the commercial team in coordinating cross-functional review of certain contracts.
- Assist in renewals with vendors.
- Help the Legal team identify areas for streamlining and improvement.
Within 12 months, you’ll make this role your own by:
- Be seen as an integral part of the commercial team, leading critical functions and projects from start to finish with minimal supervision.
Of course, what is outlined above is the ideal timeline, but things may shift based on business needs and other projects and tasks could be added at the discretion of your manager.
