Data Architect / Data Modeler – Lead
Summary:
OneMain Financial (OMF) Enterprise Data Services (EDS) team requires Data Architect/Data Modeler – Lead able to gather, understand, develop, and implement business requirements through the design, development, and management of Staging, CORE Data Warehouse, and Business Intelligence (BI) technologies. The day to day job involves partnering with business, analytical, and business intelligence teams across OneMain Financial to generate architectural requirements, architect data structures, and ensure production data teams prioritize and deliver long-term stable architectural solutions. In addition, this role serves as the foundational connection between data sources and EDS teams working to implement new or advance existing solutions.
This role is critical in ensuring we build and deliver scalable, flexible, and efficient back-end data structures to effectively support key reporting, monitoring, and analytic solutions across the OMF team.
The Data Architect/Data Modeler – Lead will partner with the Data Architect/Data Modeler – Manager and the Director of Architecture and Business Intelligence to develop, manage, and update data models (physical & logical) and metadata definitions in appropriate domains: source systems, staging, data marts, and CORE DW.
Responsibilities:
Assist with creation of a robust, sustainable, and scalable architecture that supports requirements and provides for expansion
Work with end users, business analysts, technical architects, and developers to define the data requirements and data structure for BI solutions
Design and implement data models for the data warehouse or data mart (data structure, storage, and integration). Lead the database analysis, design, and build efforts.
Work with the business to identify and understand requirements and source data systems
Design data lineage and mapping of source system data to data warehouse models
Ensure that the database designs fulfill the requirements, including data volume, frequency, and long-term growth requirements
Work with other team members to ensure that all components work together to meet objectives and performance goals as defined in the requirements
Makes recommendations to improve operational processes relative to efficiency and effectiveness.
Analyzes highly complex system and technical issues to implement technologies that align with strategic technical direction.
Delivers artifacts, technical alternative documents and architectural design that meet business requirements; oversees design reviews and frameworks.
Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with business partners and technology teams ensuring goals and customer satisfaction are achieved
Qualifications:
The position requires a Bachelor Degree with 5+ years’ experience in Information Technology or BI related fields with progressively increased levels of responsibility with SQL and data analysis/data modeling expertise including a strong understanding of data sources, relational and dimensional modeling, effective uses of business data (validity, timeliness, and benefit)
Ability to provide critical architectural input including evaluating, proposing, and selecting appropriate design alternatives which meet functional requirements
Outstanding SQL skills that include complex operations
Deep Data Analysis experience
Knowledge of formal database architecture and design
Possesses a strong aptitude/passion for creative problem solving when dealing with ambiguity
Strong project management skills with high attention to detail on data and a strong focus on meeting deliverables with time limitations - must have ability to multitask and prioritize
Must have proven leadership skills supported by excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills
Ability to build effective working relationships with internal stakeholders across multiple business areas, functions, and geographies and working in a fast-paced environment.
