The role:

We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to develop, implement and optimize the core machine learning models that drive our business. The right person for this role has strong technical skills with a solid background in machine learning and analytics. This person is biased towards action and proactively seeking new solutions.

What you will be doing:

  • Development, implementation and optimization of core measurement frameworks and machine learning models for underwriting, verification, lifetime value, collections, and retention
  • Use a diverse set of machine learning and statistical modeling techniques to action on new business opportunities and optimize existing strategies
  • Proactively perform data exploration and analysis to identify new opportunities for profitable growth
  • Develop subject matter expertise of underwriting practices or our customer acquisition channels
  • Collaborate with Product leaders to influence strategy as well as define and monitor KPIs
  • Partner with Technology teams to build out data science pipelines to support continuous testing, optimization and implementation of new models

What you’ll bring:

  • 3+ years of professional experience in an analytical role with an emphasis on model building
  • Master’s degree in Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science or other quantitative field or commensurate experience
  • Strong proficiency in the tools used for data manipulation and statistical analysis e.g. Python/R/SQL
  • Hands-on experience using various predictive machine learning techniques including: linear models, decision trees, boosting, and ensemble models
  • Knowledge of optimization, stochastic processes, experimental design, A/B testing and bootstrapping
  • Passion for keeping your skills up to date and exploring new methodologies
  • The ability to distill complex problems and analysis into a clear and concise narrative
  • Experience teaching others how to make their own work better and more efficient

  • Experience in any of the following: targeting/segmentation, digital marketing, unsecured consumer lending, optimization, and lifetime value analysis

Location

Our company is located in the heart of downtown with great access to public transportation (both Metra & CTA), coffee shops, and restaurants. Currently our teams are working remotely for the foreseeable future.
