The Role:

The Director of Data Engineering is a critical role reporting to the CTO and responsible for the Data platform that powers Braviant. Data-driven decisions are essential for us as we are looking for a team leader to help improve our data architecture to promote great decisions. This person will build upon an existing foundation while establishing and implementing a cohesive data strategy to ensure all stakeholders at Braviant, from Data Scientists to Business Analysts, can leverage data as a strategic asset.

What you'll be doing:

  • Deliver on the data needs of stakeholders through the design and implementation of analytical data stores, data warehouses and data lakes, as well as provide and oversee a suite of reporting, dashboard, analytics and data science tools.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL, Python, and the full range of AWS big data tools.
  • Transform Braviant’s data architecture to support the company’s growth plans, building scalable data solutions that enable reporting, analytics and data science.
  • Create, manage, and integrate timelines for the development and deployment of all significant projects based on resources, dependencies, and requirements.
  • Instill and manage a team culture of collaboration, creativity, and timeliness while not sacrificing code quality.

What you'll bring:

  • At least 7 years of people management experience in data management, data warehousing and/or unstructured data environments.
  • Previous experience with Postgres.
  • At least 7 years of experience in data warehouse technologies.
  • At least 3 years of experience with AWS cloud native data processing technologies.
  • Bachelor s Degree in computer science or related field.

What makes you stand out:

  • Previous experience collaborating with data science teams on data preparation, feature engineering, modeling and implementation as well as data integration and business intelligence.
  • Expertise with setting up and building ETL and data pipelines.
  • Proficiency designing data models.
  • Familiarity with AWS and cloud native data processing tools like Redshift, Presto, EMR, Glue, Athena, SageMaker.
  • Certification on AWS Big Data technologies.

Location

Our company is located in the heart of downtown with great access to public transportation (both Metra & CTA), coffee shops, and restaurants. Currently our teams are working remotely for the foreseeable future.
