Caterpillar is looking for a data analytics and insights data scientist to join our Aftermarket Parts & Services support organization with a focus on FP&A and monthly reporting of Dealer Parts Orders and Sales to End Users results including parts orders allocation and population modeling processes. This work is vital to how we support the commercial facing organizations within Caterpillar. In this role, you will lead a strong team of data scientists responsible for data management, architecture support, development of standard data processes and reporting, and creation of strategic data insights. You will set and execute an insights-driven vision for your team with the opportunity to gain a commercial perspective by collaborating with a variety of Caterpillar divisions.
Caterpillar uses quantitative methods such as business simulations, data mining, modeling and advanced statistical techniques to solve. The Sr. Lead Analytics Data Scientist contributes to this mission by initiating and completing multiple (2-3) independent analytic projects, serving as a consultant to other analytic teams or to other Caterpillar Business Unit or Service Organizations, and through serving as a technical leader and mentor to less experienced technical staff. This position is recognized as a global expert in one or more capabilities or techniques.
Job duties include but are not limited to the following:
Caterpillar uses quantitative techniques to solve problems. Typical problems include maximizing profit through improvements in Inventory Costs, Material Costs, NPI costs, etc. determining the principal drivers of health care costs; recommending the optimal supplier for a part; identifying sales, rental, and service opportunities for Caterpillar dealers; and developing simulation/optimization capabilities to model a new facility or product feature. In addition, analytics experts also provide assistance to high-profile enterprise-wide projects such as the Engineered Value Chain.
The Sr. Lead Analytics Data Scientist is recognized as one of the best in the company and is becoming recognized outside the company for expertise in analytic approaches and/or related digital technologies. The principal responsibility of a Sr. Analytics Technical Specialist is to use their highly advanced abilities and industry experience to consult on or individually complete strategic projects for a Caterpillar Business Unit or Service Organization, Caterpillar Dealer, or a Caterpillar Customer.
The position must possess a highly advanced breadth and depth of knowledge and extremely strong customer focus and initiative. Strong communication, leadership, business management acumen are also essential. He or she should also possess effective interpersonal, teamwork, and people development skills to properly consult with multiple business partners and functional experts.
The Sr. Lead Analytics Data Scientist job duties/responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

• Provide forward-thinking leadership to a team of skilled data scientists creating an insights driven vision in support of services growth
• Responsible for data management, architecture and integrity for all data and insights supporting all business units to support the services growth plans
• Provide thought leadership by using new tools and technology to deliver deep insights and predictive analytics by utilizing machine learning
• Coach and mentor team members

Basic Requirements:

• Requires Data Science, Engineering, Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or similar degree (preferably complemented by an MBA or equivalent)
• 8+ years of accounting, digital, management consulting or finance-related experience

• Must be analytical and persistent and the ability to demonstrate a high-level of business acumen
• Requires a strong desire to continually upgrade knowledge base through extensive business collaboration
• Must have the ability to effectively build teams and communicate at a high-level to all levels of the organization
• Ability to deal with conflicts, take enterprise point of view, manage multiple projects at the same time

• Domestic relocation is available for those who qualify
• Minimal travel is expected
