Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. Affirm, Inc. proudly includes Affirm, PayBright, and Returnly.

At Affirm, we are using today's technology to bring significant innovation to the financial industry. Since day one, our mission has been to deliver honest financial products that improve lives. That mission hasn’t changed—and it never will.

The Merchant Pricing team is responsible for the pricing strategy and analytics for products and initiatives that span across Affirm's entire portfolio. We strive to deliver value to our merchants and consumers. In this role, you will help Affirm go to market with new products and expand into different markets by devising strategic pricing solutions and their monetization strategy.

You will work closely with Product, Commercial, Marketing, Credit, Finance, Capital Markets, and Engineering teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical and strategic approach, as well as interpersonal skills to work cross-functionally and drive forward initiatives. This is a high impact per square foot role and provides visibility with leadership across the organization.

What you'll do
  • Formulate data insights and work with various cross-functional teams to identify areas of new growth, monetization channels, competitive landscape, and positioning in new markets
  • Structure new pricing strategies and go-to-market rollouts for our B2B products in a digestible and scalable framework to strengthen our positioning and deepen merchant relationships
  • Conduct analyses on sophisticated and open-ended questions at the intersection of profitability, growth, and risk; present findings in a clear and concise manner to influence partners across Commercial, Product, Capital Markets, Credit, Finance, etc.
  • Ownership of end-to-end analytics workflow, define success, implement data requirements, conduct analyses, generate insights and hypotheses, monitor performance, and socialize results across relevant teams.
What we look for
  • 3+ years of experience in an analytical strategy role (consulting, investment banking, finance, analytics, pricing, deal desk, etc.)
  • Strong experience with analytical tools such as SQL. Python is a plus.
  • Passion for fintech and consumer lending
  • Eager to seek out new opportunities, navigate ambiguity and develop creative solutions using data
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop strong relationships and work across all organizational levels
  • Strong work ethic - able to take ownership beyond own responsibility and run timelines/deliverables effectively
  • Masters degree in Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics, Finance, Financial Engineering, Computer Science or related quantitative field is a plus.

Location - Remote Canada

#LI-Remote

Affirm is proud to be a remote-first company! The majority of our roles are remote and can be located anywhere in the U.S. and Canada (with the exception of the U.S. Territories, Quebec, Yukon, Nunavut, and the Northwest Territories) unless the job indicates a different global location. We are currently building operations in Spain, Poland, and Australia.  Employees in remote roles have the option of working remotely or from an Affirm office in their country of hire, and may occasionally travel to an Affirm office or elsewhere for required meetings or team-building events. Our offices in Chicago, New York, Pittsburgh, Salt Lake City, San Francisco and Toronto will remain operational and accessible for anyone to use on a voluntary basis, subject to local COVID-19 guidelines.

If you got this far, we hope you're feeling excited about this role. Even if you don't feel you meet every single requirement, we still encourage you to apply. We're eager to meet people who believe in Affirm's mission and can contribute to our team in a variety of ways—not just candidates who check all the boxes.

An Insider's view of Affirm

What's something quirky about your company?

1 - In the early days, the sales team would strike a loud gong whenever they signed a deal, our engineering release emails for new features paled in comparison. One day an engineer brought in his tuba and in that moment, the deploy tuba was born, thoroughly one-upping the sales-gong. Now, several years later, tuba emojis are a company staple.

What kinds of technical challenges do you and your team face?

The integrations team interacts with many other teams across GTM, Ops, and Engineering. It's one of the best parts of being on this team because it makes the work we do varied and interesting. I'm most excited about working with those teams to define the right amount of process and ownership so that we are as productive as possible.

How does the company support your career growth?

One of the greatest things about working at Affirm is that everyone around you is invested in helping you to learn and grow. I have been so impressed by the support and encouragement I have received from everyone across the company in taking on new projects and exploring different areas of the business outside of my day to day.
