Responsibilities

The Contract Design Manager is responsible for facilitating the identification and development of national contracting strategies for Information Technology that support Ascension and participants of The Resource Group GPO in close collaboration with Ascension Technologies senior leadership and key stakeholders. The Contract Design Manager advances the development of technology contracts and pricing agreements as assigned and develops Contract Design Agents to perform similar tasks. The role conducts market research and facilities Decision Teams, or user groups, to define technology and contract attributes that are consistent, dependable and clinically acceptable. Additionally, the Manager is the contract administrator for contracts within assigned contract categories. As the contract administrator, they act as the escalation point for supplier issues as they pertain to the contracts. The Manager collaborates closely with their counterparts in Ascension Technologies, The Resource Group Sourcing, and end-users. The Manager develops direct reports to successfully manage their assigned contracts and facilitate Decision Teams. The role requires information technology experience and knowledge competencies in such areas as healthcare
technology, infrastructure, distributed architecture, cloud computing, technology hardware and software, technology services, data management and reporting, registries, and/or security.
Responsibilities:

  • Engages end-users, Ascension Technologies, and The Resource Group leaders to document solution attributes for the development of contracts that meet stakeholder needs
  • Collects and coordinates expert guidance and market research within contract categories to assist in solution development for Decision Teams, or user groups, to make informed contracting decisions
  • Coordinates communications, agendas, and follow-ups with Decision Teams as needed to meet objectives
  • Facilitates communication of clinically or operationally relevant information such as related product recalls/alerts, contract announcements and other communication strategies
  • Works collaboratively with Sourcing counterparts to form category negotiation strategies and report regularly to senior leadership on key contracting metrics
  • Mitigates supplier issue escalations from Vendor Management
  • Provides contract guidance and direction on assigned contracts
  • Develops agents to perform contracting duties
  • All other duties as assigned


Requirements
Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 2 years of cumulative experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • 3 years of leadership or management experience preferred.


Additional Preferences

  • 5 years of global IT Infrastructure preferred (Telecommunications, Datacenter, Compute, Storage, End-point) Management including solutioning and architecting)
  • 5 years of outsourced vendor management preferred (Resellers/VARs, Helpdesk, Network Support, System Integrators)
  • 3 years of Cloud (private, public, hybrid) migration and cost modeling experience preferred
  • Extensive and multidisciplinary negotiation skills preferred
  • Extensive RFx experience including eAuctions preferred
