Director of Creative Services

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on marketer to build and lead an in-house creative services team to support PEAK6 and its portfolio companies. In this role you’ll work across all our different businesses and have genuine opportunities to impact the firm and shape the future of our marketing efforts while reinforcing a growing, thriving culture. You will also partner with senior leadership to understand and express their vision, and increase brand engagement and awareness for PEAK6 and its operating philosophy, core businesses and associated investments.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Acting as a player-coach to build and lead a small in-house creative services team at PEAK6
- Selectively hiring marketing professionals to build function while dynamically augmenting with network of freelance specialists
- Implementing a process for project intake, prioritization and ongoing management that increases transparency and collaboration while minimizing confusion and competing initiatives
- Working with the Creative Director to build on the brand identity of the parent company and extend brand guidelines to support founder profiles, recruiting efforts, capital management division and other areas, as needed
- Providing creative services to other core businesses within PEAK6, including Apex, National Flood Services and Evil Geniuses, as needed
- Working with Apex marketing team to build out brand guidelines to support the firm’s goals for new business expansion, sales, product management, scheduled software release cycles, and original content creation
- Partnering with CMO and communications team to:
- Develop and execute an integrated marketing strategy to drive brand development and awareness for PEAK6
- Define culture and encourage employee engagement with tailored communications and events
- Contribute to multi-channel marketing programs across: content development, media relations, digital and email marketing, events, and social media
- Partnering with the recruiting team to deliver events with new ideas and approaches to reach PEAK6 objectives
- Collaborating with marketing peers at other PEAK6 businesses to share resources, identify best practices and find efficiencies in the spirit of ‘One PEAK6’
- Retaining and manage marketing vendors and agencies to defined and successful outcomes, including aggressive focus on timeline and budget management
- Helping manage all digital, print and marketing communication assets for the firm, including the website and collateral
- Building out infrastructure and martech stack as needed to help company achieve goals and drive efficiencies across portfolio companies
- Identifying and tracking benchmarks for marketing attribution and success including relevant dashboards and key performance metrics, as needed
- Providing support to early-stage portfolio companies, as needed, including launch strategies, product packaging, budget creation and metrics
You’ll gain loads of experience in this role but before you do, you should have:
- 10+ years of relevant marketing experience
- A bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communications or related field
- A strategic mindset with demonstrated tactical abilities who thrives in a fast-paced environment
- Ambition and drive to gets things done rather than relying solely on others to get things done
- A passion for helping startups tell their story
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
- The ability to work under pressure and proactively manage workload
- Proven experience developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns and programs
- Experience leading and executing multiple marketing initiatives independently
- The ability to function in both a leadership and contributor capacity to ensure maximum effectiveness and momentum
- The ability to give and receive objective feedback on projects and creative recommendations
- Proven team and project management skills enabling you to balance multiple deadlines to deliver campaign objectives
- Experience on agency side, with sensitivity to client relationship management, is a bonus
- Experience in the financial/venture capital/startup industries is preferred but not necessary
