The Opportunity
As a Director of Product Design, you will be instrumental in helping Sittercity achieve its mission to make child care work. In this role, you will help push the boundaries for digital experiences that put our families and caregivers at the center of the work we do.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and lead the design direction and design strategy for new Sittercity products, while advocating for our users with a strong sense of empathy. Be a strategic thought leader in how to implement delightful experiences that intersect between business, technology, design and content
- Mentor and lead a talented, diverse, inclusive team of designers on your team, providing both project feedback and career guidance, and create opportunities for your team members to thrive
- Build and maintain the culture and processes that lead to the best possible outcomes for our customers. Teach the soft/hard skills and competencies that shape the design function
- Drive the visual design language for our applications and partner with the development to share, create, and maintain the design system. Lead a holistic and cohesive design strategy across multiple platforms
- Guide user research and quantitative data to develop a deep understanding of how users engage, identify pain points and elevate what truly matters to families and caregivers
- Conduct user research, UX visioning for concept generation, concept testing and concept presentation that frame user needs and align to business goals
- Create end-to-end customer journeys that inform new product development, and help translate business needs into create and user experience opportunities
- Maintain and improve processes across the design organization; advocate for process evolution to help serve the needs of our teams
- Responsible for driving execution of product design needs, and prioritizing design initiatives
- Partner with Product and Engineering to balance strategic and creative thinking, and define a shared vision and roadmap for our consumer products
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years related experience leading digital experience at a consumer-focused company, with 3+ years of management experience
- Fluency in best practices for User Interface Design, Information Architecture, and Interaction Design
- Expert in design tools such as Figma; understanding of HTML/JavaScript/CSS
- Experience with user research and qualitative research methodologies such as surveys, usability testing, interviews
- Experience leading and building world-class product experiences
- A hands-on leader with the ability to take ownership and work autonomously in leading multiple work streams and design initiatives. Track record of empowering and managing a team to help them grow.
- A solid understanding of designing based on metrics to translate business objectives into digital experiences
- Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills
- Experience with mobile product design and evolving inclusive/universal design practices
