JOB BRIEF
UPshow is looking for a Lead Designer in Chicago to own and execute the digital design and usability of the product that’s rapidly changing the way businesses do TV and mobile. This is a new, collaborative role that will bridge our Product, Technology and Design teams, and will report directly to the Chief Creative Officer. You’ll own a number of design workstreams for our end-user products and features, including Social TV, mobile, entertainment and gaming, as well as new innovative concepts that push our creativity. You’ll see your work on over 12,000 screens across the world, and growing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Own and execute UPshow’s UX/UI design for products spanning TV, mobile, progressive web apps, website, and more
Collaboratively foster feedback and ideas with all teams, including the Chicago-based Marketing, Sales, Client, Product and Technology teams
Research and mine insights both internally and externally for thoughtful UX and design decisions
Help incorporate user journeys, wireframes, prototyping, style guides and testing to our design process
Help run design sprints that will create new features and offerings for our bar & restaurant, healthcare, fitness and entertainment partners
Keep us up-to-date on design and UX trends and best practices, as well apps and tools for design and prototyping
Help plan timelines and set expectations for all phases of product build and rollout
Help communicate new product features and launches via creative campaigns, presentation mock-ups, trade show assets, landing pages, videos, branding, and more
QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Requirements
Builder’s Mentality – This person will enter the company during a period of rapid growth and will be expected to proactively lean in and make a meaningful impact
Intense Creativity – This person will have a “blank slate” opportunity to impact the UPshow product and must challenge the company with new ideas and design thinking in order to make our product the best it can be
Interpersonal Skills – Excellent internal/external communication skills are a must, as this person will be collaborating with colleagues across multiple functions daily
Adaptability – This person should be energized and excited by working in a fast-paced startup environment, and be willing to learn new things constantly
Preferred Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, interactive design, or a related field
3-5 years of experience in digital design with UX understanding
Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite, and experience with tools like Adobe XD, Sketch, InVision, or Zeplin
Experience with the following will get us really excited:
Product design (bonus points for Mobile or TV interface experience)
SaaS, startups, marketing/media tech companies, or digital design firms
Motion graphics and video editing
Writing and storytelling
Working with developer teams, sales teams, marketing teams, in remote situations
