Passionate about making a difference in the world of cancer genomics?

With the advent of genomic sequencing, we can finally understand our genetic makeup. We now have more data than ever before but providers don't have the infrastructure or expertise to make sense of said data. Here at Tempus, we are building the infrastructure to modernize cancer treatment. By analyzing a patient’s genetic data in the context of molecular therapies, Tempus empowers physicians, researchers, and scientists to use real world data to make decisions in the clinic and for discovery of novel therapies.

Recent advancements in underlying technology have finally made it possible for AI to impact clinical care in a meaningful way. Tempus' proprietary platform connects an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians, providing critical information about the right treatments for the right patients, at the right time.

We're on a mission to connect an entire ecosystem to redefine how genomic data is used in clinical and research settings. We're looking for a design leader who is passionate about changing the status quo and bringing cancer care into the 21st century.

The Product Design Director role is responsible for developing and implementing highly effective user experience strategies to drive efficiency of our internal clinical testing pipeline.

How you’ll contribute:

  • Work closely with leadership, Product, Engineering, and other stakeholders to define and shape the vision of the software used by our science, lab, operational and pathology teams.
  • Inspire, manage, direct, and coach product designers to grow our testing business while delivering their best work, making connections between personal growth goals and business goals.
  • Focus on business objectives (OKRs) and how to achieve them with your Product and Engineering counterparts.
  • Partner with leaders across disciplines to bring user-centric ideas to life while fostering team and individual growth.
  • Balance creating a culture of exploration and learning, while delivering a high-quality product experience.
  • Foster a culture of documentation and knowledge sharing across several teams and their respective business stakeholders
  • Manage implementation of initiatives that span across teams.
  • Simplify complex workflows into intuitive experiences that inspire software development teams.
  • Develop design playbooks and templates that enable design teams to collaborate with stakeholders more effectively .

What you’ll bring:

  • Approximately 10+ years of experience in fast-paced, creative environments
  • Exceptional storyteller and communicator capable of explaining complex scientific and technical concepts in simple terms
  • Outstanding cross-functional leadership skills, with proven experience managing complex projects through influence
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, to roll up your sleeves and work on everything from strategy to creating copy for one-pagers.
  • Prior experience managing senior and lead designers.
  • A growth mindset and are comfortable continuing to learn.
  • A preference for progress over perfection.
  • Knowledge of sequencing or genomics ideal but not required
