Senior Designer, Workplace Solutions

For our Workplace Solutions business, that means building products and services that help employers maximize the value of their workplace retirement plans and put individuals on the path to better retirement outcomes.
We're looking for a senior user experience designer to join our team. This individual will support the UX design discipline within a cross-functional team charged with developing software for retirement plan providers, plan sponsors, plan consultants, retirement plan advisors and plan participants. We are looking for a designer who loves taking on the challenge of turning complex data into great communication design, translating usage patterns into intuitive interactions and workflows, and working with an incredibly collaborative design community.
Job Responsibilities
You’ll be great at:
Understanding at an expert level how to provide solutions for complex navigation and information hierarchy challenges at a system level while also supporting a strong user-facing experience.
Expertly applying design thinking methods in day-to-day work, including collaborating with stakeholders and Agile team members to solve user needs that realize business goals.
Creating and presenting concepts using methods appropriate to the context (e.g. paper sketches, whiteboarding, wireframes, task/workflows, prototypes, etc.).
Making expert level decisions around typography, space, color, and iconography while utilizing the Morningstar Design System and expressing the Morningstar brand.
Identifying connections between products and communication channels and guiding teams to build and plan for coordinated solutions.
Partnering with the product owners and engineering leads to support the end-to-end vision of the product.
Demonstrating exceptional stakeholder management and relationship building skills, including effectively managing expectations and obtaining agreement on key objectives.
Thriving in an agile work environment, including the ability to embrace iterative product development while maintaining a cohesive and holistic view of the overall design experience.
Providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
Using data and experimentation in the design process to deliver on intended outcomes.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree
At least 5 years of relevant professional experience designing for software, web and/or digital products.
Expertise in digital design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, InVision, Figma, Zeplin, Principle, etc.).
Knowledge of HTML and CSS.
Knowledge of different user research methodologies with experience participating in and/or executing user research.
Superb communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent organization and attention to detail.
