Job Description
What’s the role?
We know how important it is for people to make a difference with their purchases, from choosing sustainable or organic materials to buying from local or minority-owned shops. The Marketplace Impact team is focused on making it easier to shop your values on Etsy, and we’re excited to find new ways to help our buyers feel engaged with Etsy as a community of people making a lasting impact on the world.
As Senior Product Designer, you’ll be joining a newly-formed team that is operating quickly, balancing discovery and delivery to define our most important problems, build out new solutions, and iterate from our findings. You will be responsible for defining and designing innovative experiences to improve the buyer experience on Etsy, collaborating with cross-functional product partners in engineering, research, analytics, marketing and product management. We’re looking for you to bring a proven set of processes for solving different types of problems and to know when to apply the right tool for the job.
What’s product design like at Etsy?
Product designers at Etsy work in a squad alongside a product manager, 3-5 engineers, a researcher and a data analyst. Together they drive their own part of the Etsy customer experience by delivering solutions to challenging problems and getting feedback directly from customers.
Day to day, it looks like:
Discovering insights, opportunities, and requirements
Testing prototypes and hypotheses with users to collect feedback
Launching experiments and evaluating how they perform and next steps to iterate
Presenting your work to peers and leadership, async and in-person
Taking part in weekly design critiques, workshops, all hands and squad meetings
Thinking and writing about your process and documenting your decisions to help the rest of the design team learn from your work
