UX Strategist at Eight Bit Studios

At Eight Bit Studios, we specialize in mashing up User Experience, Design, and Development in fun new ways. Our team is made up of hardworking and empathy-driven UX Strategists, Digital Product Designers, Developers, Product + Project Managers, and QA Analysts who care about delivering great work that we can all take pride in.

When you join Eight Bit, you will get a chance to collaborate with some of the nation’s most interesting business and product leaders. We take care to vet our client work so it aligns with our team and company goals. We're not talking about working with internal teams upon internal teams, we're talking about being on the ground floor, working with truly engaging people doing truly exciting things.

OK, so where do you fit in?

Eight Bit Studios is looking for a collaborative and organized UX Strategist to join our team. We’re looking for a team member who is super adaptable, driven and likes to collaborate closely with other User Experience Strategists, Project Managers, Product Designers, and Development pros to create incredible and inclusive digital products.

When you join Eight Bit, you will join our fully remote workforce. Most of our team is located in the Chicago area so we work in central time.

Are you still with us? Great, now here’s what this role is all about:

As a UX Strategist at Eight Bit, you believe that a great product experience comes from an effective and delightful design, founded on a deep understanding of the user. You’ve seen your best work created while working seamlessly with Design and Dev after thoughtful discovery. As a lifelong learner, you are eager to keep up with up-to-date and innovative research techniques. Through it all, you’ll keep a strategic mindset, ask good questions to dig deep on product logic, drive project momentum, and stay a champion of the user.

We are looking for these skills and experience:

  • You have 5+ years working in User Experience. Time at a tech consultancy or working as a UX consultant is a plus.

  • Planning and conducting user research is your jam. You’re comfortable gathering and using qualitative and quantitative data, and have conducted common UX research activities like user interviews, surveys, and usability tests.

  • You find creating clear and insightful user models like personas and customer journeys almost as satisfying as watching people using them.

  • You are comfortable planning and facilitating workshops with our internal team and client partners. You feel proud of your ability to translate complex tech ideas into digestible bites and are great at creating a welcoming tone for the non-techs in the room too.

  • You feel confident running ideation and prioritization sessions and can help teams define products at various levels from vision statements to user stories. Furthermore, you can identify assumptions being made, challenge them bravely and empathetically, and form plans to test them.

  • You don’t need to create visual designs or hi fidelity prototypes yourself, but you can express yourself visually (sketching, wireframing) to contribute to the design process and you are excited about working with Product Designers as your other half - partnering on design critique, offering guidance and ideating together.

  • You can navigate product design tools like Figma, Sketch, Invision, or Zeplin in order to walk through designs and annotations with clients, developers, and other team members.

  • You can make recommendations for analytics to track in order to continue to build our understanding and product evolution via data. It would be a bonus if you are comfortable diving into different data sources like Google Analytics/Firebase in order to bring out and share usage-related insights.

  • You eagerly explore new technologies to see if our product toolset or capabilities can be improved or evolved.

  • You're excited about being on a team - decisions are not made in a silo at Eight Bit and collaborative work is our bread and butter.

And here’s why we think working at Eight Bit is all that:

We recognize that the key to our ability to deliver on great digital products is tied to creating an inclusive environment where people can do their best work.

At Eight Bit, we care a great deal about balancing our work and life, so our people-first employee package for full time employees includes competitive compensation and healthcare benefits, generous vacation time, holiday office closures, paid parental leave, and flexible (that means parent & remote learning friendly) work schedules, along with fun company activities and a supportive work environment - even over Zoom.

We take equality seriously.
