As a Director of Software Engineering at JPMorgan Chase within Global Commercial Card, you lead a technical area and drive impact within teams, technologies, and projects across departments. Utilize your in-depth knowledge of software, applications, technical processes, and product management to drive multiple complex projects and initiatives, while serving as a primary decision maker for your teams and be a driver of innovation and solution delivery.
Commercial Card Technology is a part of Payments Technology organization that offers payment solutions including traditional credit card and virtual payments for midsize to large companies and organizations in the United States and Canada. As a member of our Software Engineering Group, we are looking forward to people who are passionate around solving business problems through innovation and engineering practices. You'll be required to apply your knowledge to all aspects of the software development lifecycle, as well as partner continuously with stakeholders daily to stay focused on common goals. Job responsibilities

  • Leads technology and process implementations to achieve functional technology objectives
  • Accountable for decisions that influence teams' resources, budget, tactical operations, and the execution and implementation of processes and procedures
  • Carries governance accountability for coding decisions, control obligations, and measures of success such as cost of ownership, maintainability, and portfolio operations
  • Ability to manage a team with diverse technologies and solutions provided to the business
  • Delivers technical solutions that can be leveraged across multiple businesses and domains
  • Provide coaching and mentoring for engineers of all levels, with focus on organizational maturity, agile maturity and culture of excellence
  • Influences peer leaders and senior stakeholders across the business, product, and technology teams
  • Partner with Product Lead to develop insights to drive product strategy decisions
  • Partner with cross-functional products to adopt search components across all domains in a cohesive, quality and intuitive experience.
  • Champions the firm's culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect


Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 10+ years applied experience. In addition, 5+ years of experience leading technologists to manage, anticipate and solve complex technical items within your domain of expertise.
  • Experience developing or leading cross-functional teams of technologists
  • Experience with hiring, developing, and recognizing talent
  • Experience leading a product as a Product Owner or Product Manager
  • Innovative and creative leader with previous experience in developing large-scale platforms
  • Experienced organizational leader, who is passionate about building effective and empowered teams
  • Extensive knowledge of the engineering best practices, technical design and product development lifecycle
  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Expertise in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field


Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience working at code level
  • Working knowledge of Java, Angular/React, and Data Solutions
