 Purpose of the Role

The Associate Mechanical Engineer will provide engineering design and prototyping inputs (3D CAD/2D CAD) for new projects, manage 2D drawing capture for final contracts, support specification development and support re-sourcing and packaging efforts from engineering design viewpoint. These value-added activities will support kpi’s associated with on time/on spec/on cost, cost reductions and product reviews. The Associate Mechanical Engineer will work closely with the technical, industrial design, performance excellence, marketing and China office teams to create alignment on new projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide initial engineering design (3D/2D) for selected new projects.
  • Provide initial prototypes of new concepts/projects.
  • Manage final documentation capture (2D Drawings, 3D CAD)
  • Manage in house prototyping machines and contracts.
  • Provide packaging engineering input for new projects and support for cost reduction and DC projects.

Competencies for Success

  • 2 - 5 years work experience in consumer product development (phase gate process)
  • 2 - 5 years experience with SolidWorks, Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint
  • Team Player, effective communicator and able to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Working knowledge and experience with injection molded plastic, sheet metal, and die-casting part design, 3D printing, specification development

  • Improved supplier quotations based upon initial engineering
  • Improved alignment on product performance
  • Reduction of tooling changes in new projects
  • Completed engineering documentation.
  • Universal access to engineering documentation.
  • Maximize 3D printer efficiency

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Mechanical Technology (Preferred) 
  • 2-5 years of work experience
