Computational Biologist- Statistical Genetics
We are seeking a highly motivated and capable Statistical Geneticist with extensive experience and interest in translational cancer research and biomarker development. This position requires experience in scientific programming, statistical methods development and implementation, and an understanding of cancer biology and human genetics. Top candidates will also have experience translating research findings into clinically relevant and actionable information.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Conduct and design studies to identify novel genetic biomarkers relevant to clinical cancer care and provide insights into basic tumor biology. These studies involve analyses of data from candidate genes and genome-wide sequence data across both DNA and RNA.
2. Collaborate with bioinformaticians, scientists, and clinicians to design and perform statistical analyses and evaluate genetic associations.
3. Work in interdisciplinary groups of scientists, engineers, and product developers to translate research insights into a clinically actionable insights for our clients.
4. Manage and contribute to building the Tempus knowledge databases
5. Design and evaluate plan analysis for sequencing-based projects; discuss statistically valid data collection methods
6. Produce high quality and detailed documentation for all projects.
Required Experience:
Must have completed a Ph.D. in human genetics, statistics or biostatistics
Proficient in statistical programming tools such as R, Bioconductor, or Python
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Experience in cancer genetics, immunology, or molecular biology
- Experience working with next-generation sequencing data
- Self-driven and works well in interdisciplinary teams
- Experience with communicating insights and presenting concepts to a diverse audience
- Demonstrated ability to conceive, implement, and evaluate research projects for complex biological problems
