As a Development Manager, you will be responsible for providing the strategic direction for application development and maintenance of current and future SilkRoad products. The Development Manager will also provide technical leadership, manage ongoing projects and personnel, and contribute to architecture decisions for SilkRoad products. The Development Manager will also assist with identifying new technologies and tools to support and improve products and processes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

All employees of SilkRoad are expected to use good business judgment and appropriate discretion and decision making while performing responsibilities of the position. 

  • Maintaining and extending SilkRoad applications in cooperation with product management.
  • Controlling and tracking project performance, time allocations, and quality.
  • Working with support and operations to quickly diagnose and correct application performance and stability issues and subsequently work to prevent future occurrences.
  • Remaining continuously aware of business and technical issues and actively participating in the recommendation of creative solutions.
  • Contributing to the overall strategic leadership, vision, and execution of technology projects and solutions, ensuring support of the company's business objective
  • Collaborating with product management and senior leadership in order to fully understand business priorities for the organization as a whole and establishing plans to achieve defined goals. 

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated hands on leadership experience with the software development life cycle from product conception through delivery.
  • Ability to meet aggressive schedules.
  • Proven experience in managing projects and delivering on time and within scope.
  • Proven track record of hiring and building high performing software development teams.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with people of all levels and disciplines such as design, application engineering and other teams within the company.
  • Demonstrated experience developing commercial end-user applications and implementing large-scale software systems.
  • Extremely competent with the following: HTML, JavaScript, SQL, CSS, XML, MS SQL Server.
  • Experience building applications using an object oriented programming language such as Java or C#.
  • Experience with Agile Development methodologies, preferably in a scrum master role.
  • Knowledge of web application security.
  • Cross browser development experience targeting popular internet browser technologies including MS Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari and Google Chrome.
  • Extensive experience with relational databases.
  • Experience building scalable web applications.
  • Experience leading both developers and QA analysts.
  • Experience leading a development team and working with cross-functional teams across an organization.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in application/software development.
  • Minimum of 1 year of management/supervisory experience is required.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science is strongly preferred but equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Background in Human Resources business processes, with a business understanding of such processes to feature analysis and development strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Human Resources software preferred.
  • Experience with Software-as-a-Sercvice (SaaS) delivery preferred.
  • Experience with globalization requirements for software.
  • Knowledgeable of all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC).
  • Passion for web-based software products.
