Job Description

divvyDOSE is looking for a Engineering Manager to lead one of our software teams. We're in the exciting and rapidly growing consumer healthcare industry which requires continuous innovation, rigorous quality, and iteration. As the Engineering Manager you will oversee a team of 4-6 software engineers that help build the software for our pharmacy operating system. The objective is to ensure high quality, scalable software systems that deliver on the needs of the business, while helping develop talent and improve process.

Responsibilities

  • Be a thought leader for your team and corresponding business domain
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, & Operations to creatively solve business needs
  • Drive the design, implementation, and testing process to ensure delivery of robust, scalable software that meets business requirements & goals
  • Manage and maintain engineering core principles and processes to provide well-tested and well-architected solutions
  • Coordinate with the product manager and tech lead to help define the team’s roadmap
  • Communicate project status and updates to upper management
  • Supervise and iterate on engineering process to help the team meet their goals efficiently
  • Assist software engineers in their performance, professional development and technical skills by providing regular feedback and mentorship
  • Help recruit, hire, and onboard new engineers to the team as needed to achieve the desired product roadmap
  • Collaborate with other leaders to help foster an inclusive, collaborative culture and positive work environment
  • Be a player coach when required

Required Skills

  • Experience managing software development teams
  • Experience with microservice solutions and API design
  • Expert level programming experience in Python, Java, Ruby or JavaScript
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong development background with experience in architecture design
  • Management and mentorship skills to facilitate career growth and coaching of engineers and technical initiatives
  • Experience with monitoring and scaling applications
  • 5-7 years prior experience in software development and 2+ years managing high performance software teams

Nice but not necessary

  • Experience with Healthcare, HL7 or HIPAA Applications
  • Experience with Domain-driven design
  • Experience using infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and/or CloudFormation
  • Experience with managed services in AWS
  • Experience with Lambda or other function-as-a-service (FaaS) solutions
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, such as Jenkins or CircleCI
  • Experience with NewRelic, Datadog, or other application monitoring tools

Our engineering office is in River North in the famous Mies van der Rohe building with breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago River.
