Caterpillar Reman Division currently has an opening for an Engineering Project Team Lead position supporting the Reman Drivetrain product group. This Engineering Project Team Leader position is a high visibility leadership position within the Drivetrain group of Caterpillar's Remanufacturing Division and reports to the NPI Program Manager. This position requires both good engineering and business acumen skills. This position should align well with a career growth plan in NPI or Engineering Leadership.
This Team Leader will be responsible for developing and running a portfolio of Reman NPI projects for drivetrain components across the Caterpillar machine product families. This is a very important role that is responsible for successful NPI execution of drivetrain projects with coordination of personnel from the Reman Product Engineering & Quality, Reman Aftermarket Sales & Marketing, and Reman facilities such as Caterpillar Remanufacturing Drivetrain LLC, West Fargo, ND. The candidate will also engage across the enterprise with MBD business partners, LPSD - Drivetrain, and the respective Industry Groups to ensure NPI project alignment with the Enterprise Aftermarket Growth strategies.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure coverage of product offerings for drivetrain components by working with Reman Aftermarket Sales & Marketing, Industry Segment groups, LPSD Drivetrain, MBDs, Dealer and Customers.
  • Complete engineering technical analysis to understand bill of material, warranty, product offerings, and validation.
  • Work with Business Resources, Reman Product Engineering and remanufacturing plants (CRDL West Fargo, ND) teams to build and evaluate business cases for product offerings.
  • Scope, launch, and run NPI projects to implement new products and grow sales using the Reman NPI process.
  • Coordinate the release of Reman offerings, drawings/prints.
  • Work closely with internal business partners such as MBD's, PSLD, LPSD, Revenue Management and Remanufacturing facilities throughout the world
  • Travel of 15-20% will likely be required to interact with the CRDL West Fargo remanufacturing facility and to meet with Business Unit teams and dealers to develop product offerings.
  • Lead multiple OPACC improvement projects for remanufacturing business portfolios to find opportunities and execute the projects.


Basic Qualifications:

  • 4-Year Mechanical Engineering or related degree and 6-10 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated business acumen experience
  • Product design experience, especially in upper/lower powertrain
  • Experience with engineering, NPI or commercial role in Remanufacturing or a Product group
  • Strong Project Management skills
  • Demonstrated leadership of complex projects
  • High level of skill in Excel and data analysis


Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Extensive knowledge of upper and lower powertrain for TTT, LWL, MWL, OHT, MG, AT, UGM, WTS, etc.
  • Experience bringing innovative products to market
  • Black Belt or Green Belt training DMAIC and/or DMEDI
  • Experience with business program analysis using Net Present Value or Discounted Cash Flow techniques
  • Individuals should possess an above average level of upper and lower powertrain components knowledge.
  • Candidates should be able to lead, monitor, and manage projects.
  • The candidate must be promotable and have good leadership skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interactions with both office and factory personnel
  • Must be a self-starter, accountable, and customer driven with strong teamwork and organizational skills.


Additional Information

  • This position will be located in the Mossville, IL or Fargo, ND facilities with the possibility of being remote.
