Front End Developer

About the Job:RedShelf is looking for a Front End Ember Developer to work on our web based e-reader. You would be helping us by working on new features for accessibility and studying. A typical day would involve developing code, reviewing code for others, writing unit/integration tests, and working with the team to plan out new features or bug fixes.
Developers on our e-reader team work hard to deliver an excellent product used by 100’s of thousands of students each year. We need developers who care about creating a great experience for people using our platform.
What are We Looking For?
First and foremost, we are looking for someone who is passionate about development and making an impact in the higher education market. Ideal candidates should a bachelor’s degree in computing, math, engineering, or another related field plus at least 3+ years of development experience with a focus in Front-End technology preferably with teams that have run Agile and/or Scrum methodology. Previous work with a Front-End JavaScript Framework (Ember, Angular, React, etc.) would be a requirement; Ember is preferred. We need someone who has worked closely on a team to build and maintain a large JavaScript application. And of course, we would love to have someone with experience in the education/publishing industry, but it’s not required.
Written and verbal communication skills will be essential to this position, specifically regarding effective communication with stakeholders, including senior leadership. You should be comfortable developing and leading projects and assignments independently with little to no direction. We are looking for an individual who is capable of balancing multiple priorities, meeting deadlines, and showcasing the flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of a scrappy startup business.
What’s the Tech Stack?RedShelf is based largely on open source software and tools. If you have experience with any of the following it would be great but we are willing to train someone with the right passion and personality.
