ABOUT THIS ROLE
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Trading Applications Team, a regular day could include working closely with PEAK6's trading desk and product team to identify opportunities to improve and automate workflows and working with other engineers on the team to build out the future of PEAK6's custom trading applications. Additionally, Senior Software Engineers regularly work across teams (engineering and trading) to ensure that their solutions integrate seamlessly to support a great experience for traders in a live trading environment.
This hybrid position can be based out of either our Chicago or Austin offices.
- Collaborating with trading and technology teams on trading strategy, creating applications for both individual traders as well as more robust applications for broader scale use acrossthe entire firm.
- Owning execution of key initiatives that align with strategic business plans.
- Contribute to the full product development lifecycle ofcritical tools that enable trading, risk management, and firm portfolio management.
- Ensuring quality and correctness of applications through understanding the applications and how they are used by our trading teams.
- Monitoring applications in production for performance andeffectiveness, always looking for areas to improveexistingworkflows.
- Troubleshooting production issues quickly and efficiently.
- Mentoring junior engineers on the team.
YOUR EXPERIENCE
- Must have proficiency in Python.Go or Java is a nice to have!
- Experience with some combination of the following Python libraries; Pandas, NumPy,PyArrow,PyTorch,Scikit-learn, orTensorflow.
- Bachelors orMastersDegree in Computer Science, Engineering.
- 5+ yearsof software development, with sometrading or finance industry experience preferred.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to thrive in a dynamic and self-directed environment
- Excellent problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Familiarity with Linux platform.
- Passion for building software as part of a team
- Ability to pass Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) licensing exam and Series 57 upon hire
