We are seeking a Junior or Mid-level Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate should have 1-5 years of experience in web application development, with a strong understanding of programming principles and concepts.

The ideal candidate is a self-motivated, fast learner who isn't afraid of challenges, or learning new skills. We place particular value on the consideration of good design/UX principles in development.

We are a branding, design, and product development team based in Chicago. We work with a range of impassioned clients to create digital solutions to technical problems. We produce a wide variety of projects, from animation-heavy interactive work to large-scale web/database applications to highly engaging and innovative mobile applications. We're looking for a Junior or Mid-level Developer who's excited about expanding their knowledge in a breadth of full-stack skills, and who's passionate about great design and interactive experiences.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with team members to develop and maintain web and software applications.
• Develop high-quality, responsive web applications and websites using the latest technologies and development frameworks.
• Collaborate with designers to ensure that the user interface and user experience are intuitive and easy to use.
• Work closely with project managers to ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standard.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code that adheres to best practices and coding standards.
• Troubleshoot and debug issues as they arise and provide timely solutions.
• Continuously research and implement new technologies and development methodologies to improve our development process and deliver better products to our clients.
• Develop product solutions that adhere to Responsive Web Design and browser/device compatibility best practices.
• Collaborate with the Development team to plan projects, solve coding challenges, and learn from each other's experiences.
• Collaborate with designers and managers to solve problems, produce efficient UX, and create visually exciting user experiences.
• Leverage a variety of database and API solutions to create data-driven products.
• Incorporate modern and simple accessibility practices.
• Debug and troubleshoot code to deliver only the best possible experiences to users.

Qualifications

Candidates do not need to meet all of the qualifications. We are looking for passionate, curious people who care about quality development and good design - that is more important to us than checking all the boxes.

• 1-5 years of experience in web development.
• Strong proficiency in front-end development technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Typescript, and React.
• Experience in back-end development technologies such as PHP, Python, Node.js, and MySQL.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g. Git).
• Familiarity or Experience with modern content management systems and Headless CMS architecture.
• Knowledge of database technologies (e.g. SQL, NoSQL).
• Strong understanding of responsive design and mobile-first development.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Bonus Points: Familiarity with animation libraries (e.g., GSAP, Three.js) and animation with SVG's.

This is a contract to full time position. During the contract phase, you'll become familiar with our processes and team, jumping right into active projects. If it makes sense for you (and for us) you'll transition seamlessly to full time after three months. Salary based on experience.
