The Role: The Lead Software Engineer will lead an application development squad for our web-based, retirement planning software. An ideal candidate is a pro in C# and the Microsoft .NET stack. You will work closely with various Workplace teams (Engineering, QA, Project Management, Product Management, etc.) to help execute our strategic business and technology initiatives. You will look for opportunities to inspire and motivate our technology teams to build the best products possible. This position is located in our Chicago office.
Job Responsibilities- Lead application development squad for a Retirement Manager (web based retirement advice/planning software)- Build well-designed, well-engineered stable, and scalable products- Follow software design best practices such as continuous integration, test-driven development, and regular deployments.- Be passionate about quality, process, programming, and investing in general, seeing opportunities for improvement, seizing them, and then sharing your findings with others.- Take ownership of the success of the team with a "gets things done" attitude; the ability to understand and leverage new technologies, potentially wearing many hats including business analyst, DBA, QA, and project manager.- Help to shape product vision.
Qualifications- A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field in software development with more than 7 years of experience.- Advanced knowledge of C# and the Microsoft .NET Stack. Must have experience with Web APIs, MVC, Unity, Entity Framework, LINQ, Asynchronous programming and T-SQL/SQL Server- Proven knowledge of enterprise software concerns such as security, scalability, transaction management, and concurrency.- Must be able to write quality unit tests- Exposure and understanding of DevOps with tools like Jenkins and CloudBees Flow- Familiarity with architecting AWS solutions- Knowledge of object-oriented design, domain modeling, design patterns and building highly scalable and available systems- Organized and able to remain productive even when you have multiple deliverables
Nice to have- Experience working in a scrum-based methodology
