This opening is in Motorola Solutions’ Enterprise Markets Engineering group, and is focused on customers across Electric/Gas Utilities, Petro Chemical (Oil & Gas) and Fortune 100 or Corporate Account customer verticals. The Enterprise Markets team is growing and uniquely positioned to provide Land Mobile Radio, Private Broadband and Video Security solutions across the customer verticals.
The customer team comprises Sales, Project Management, System Engineering and System Technologist personnel working together in a high performance culture, often with demanding cycle times and high customer expectations because we are working on mission critical communication systems.
We are looking for a Post-Sale System Engineer who is passionate and results driven. The ideal candidate has the following skills and capabilities:
Proven end-to-end technical expertise in wireless communications (i.e. from mobile device through to core infrastructure) and demonstrated client facing ability
Familiarity with Motorola Solutions’ portfolio including ASTRO 25, MOTOTRBO, WAVE/Team Communications, Command Central, SCADA, Private/Public LTE, Video Security Solutions etc.
Strong general knowledge of wireless communications fundamentals and voice/data architectures
Strong general knowledge of IP networking protocols and security
Previous experience with RF coverage predictions, traffic/capacity modeling, and related toolsets is an asset
Preferred knowledge of CompTIA Network+
The Post-Sale System Engineer will take responsibility for and oversee all technical aspects of the assigned project from award until system acceptance.
Final Design and implementation of the radio network including infrastructure, subscribers, and mobile backhaul
System acceptance testing
Radio coverage testing and interference mitigation
Radio system licensing (FCC/Industry Canada)
Preparation of system fleetmap, encryption and radio programming templates
Complete system documentation
Live system upgrades
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science preferred
Excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to non--technical audiences
Self motivated and able to maintain focus in a high pressure environment
Ability to work effectively with diverse personalities, environments, and cultures
Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Willingness to think out of the box and challenge the status quo
Must show attention to detail and have a flawless execution mindset
Travel is required for all project phases, from design through final acceptance. Travel is expected to be 40% and fluctuates based on customer needs.
Must reside near a major airport
Bachelor's Degree and 2 + years of experience OR 5+ years as a Field Service Technician/Specialist, Systems Technician, Engineer or IT
