Job Responsibilities
In this newly-formed role you will be responsible for overseeing the technology strategy, designs, and roadmaps for ByAllAccounts platform, enabling internal and external teams to build best in class investment solutions. You will be reporting directly to the CTO of Morningstar's Investment Management Division. You will also co-ordinate the activities of the lead design engineers associated with the platform and across the wealth management platform. You will be responsible for defining the technical strategy for the platform as a whole, working with engineering leaders and product stakeholders.
As a member of the platform engineering delivery team, you will be responsible for designing platform capabilities that balance the requirements of long-term design with near-term delivery pressure. You also will be expected to ensure your platforms' adherence to enterprise architecture standards and to bring modern coding methodologies and best practices to the platforms' engineering teams.
You will actively participate as a member of the extended Investment Management Organization as well as a key contributor to the enterprise architecture standards.
The ideal candidate will have a deep technology background, years of hands-on software development experience and strong platform thinking. You must be passionate about solving hard technical problems at scale and must have an ability to collaborate with many teams and stakeholders. This role will partner with stakeholders across the enterprise in executing tech platform consolidation, convergence and reengineering.
Responsibilities:• Work with engineering leadership and engineers to transform the ByAllAccounts platform into a scalable innovation platform• Work across the Investment Management organization multiple teams to identify technical improvements and efficiencies that will advance and simplify our technology stack and engineering practices• Work with other Group and Platform Architects across the company to develop, enhance, and publicize core enterprise architectural standards and best practices
Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering/Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience) and 15+ years experience in system architecture, design and implementation.• Experience in enabling existing and emerging web and mobile technology frameworks• Track record of leading, developing, and delivering significant, complex software projects within large organizations• Strong technical background and an expert in many tech stacks (mobile, web, backend, node)• Expertise in designing and delivering large scale distributed systems• Experience designing and building cloud native applications on public clouds (ideally GCP and AWS)• Experience with high-performance data storage tiers, relational and No-SQL• Demonstrable in-depth experience with Java, node.js• Experience in software release lifecycle with modern distributed version control (e.g. git)• Great analytical and problem-solving skills• Strong influencer and strong communicator, both written and spoken• Knowledge of DevOps best practices and practical experience with setting up Continuous Integration and Deployment pipelines. Knowledge of modern deployment strategies and tools including Blue/Green deployments and Feature Flags, etc.• Experience supporting large, distributed applications. Familiarity with Observability concepts and knowledge of how to implement them.

Every day is a little different. Our team is focused on POC (Proof of Concepts). My work involves problem-solving, development and software design. I work on the Data collections team, currently most of this involves, on a high level, automating the process currently used to collect data from raw sources through Machine Learning.
