Summary This role is responsible for leading and maintaining the Network Monitoring for OCC Network Services. This position will support the Network Infrastructure Teams, maintaining the tools and resources tied to network state and performance, as well as associated reports and web portals tied to those tools.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.

  • Lead and support the implementation and management of network monitoring and performance monitoring tools for OCC Network Services.
  • Supports the design of process performance management tools and metrics.
  • Assists in root cause analysis efforts for identified issues, document, and present recommended solutions.
  • Identifies and records process pain points, quality issues, inefficiencies, non-value add activities, and performance gaps.
  • Leads or Supports Projects, ensuring proper planning, resource allocation and project scoping is completed.
  • Leads or Supports Project execution activities and contributes to completion of project closure.
  • Works with the team to identify risks, track and resolve issues, and eliminate project challenges.
  • Consistently monitors and reports on the progress and status of all work streams.
  • Coordinates and responds to changes including escalating issues and decisions as needed.
  • Provides administrative support as needed, such as organizing project files, managing calendars, and coordinating travel arrangements.
  • Uses traditional and Agile project/product approaches to execute projects and achieve business outcomes.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Required to Act as third line support for all Network Monitoring activities.

  • Act as a mentor for junior team members.
  • Train team members and extended Network Services resources in effective daily duty use of the monitoring and performance tools.

The following are required to qualify for this role

  • Advanced familiarity with network monitoring and management methodologies and products. (Ex. HP Openview, CA Spectrum, Solarwinds, ect.)
  • Proven ability to manage the installation and configuration of network monitoring tools from initial install to production operations.
  • Ability to prioritize critical versus non-critical issues, communicating to management.
  •  Proven ability to contribute consistently and positively in a dynamic, fast-paced, and highly regulated environment.
  • Proven ability to facilitate project alignment between business and technical teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to dig beyond the surface to uncover root causes and offer solutions that could deliver effective and efficient outcomes.
  • Experienced work in a collaborative environment to solve cross-functional problems.
  • Must be self-directed and detail oriented.
  • Must function daily utilizing highly effective organization and planning skills.

Technical Skills:

The following are required for this role

  • Significant experience with Network Monitoring and Performance tools.
  • Significant work w/network discovery tools and reconciliation of discovered objects.
  • Experience working with tool-based RCA (Root Cause Analysis).
  • Experience in tool integration and operability.
  • Experience working with Infrastructure Technologies and Teams.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Experience using Service-now or similar tool

Education and/or Experience:

  • [Required] 5+ Years experience in network monitoring and performance tools.
  • (Preferred )10+ Years experience in network monitoring and performance tools.

Certificates or Licenses:

  • Process improvement certifications such as Lean/Six Sigma
  • IT service or process management certifications such as ITIL or ITAM
