Our team excels at delivering software to solve the problems in front of us at Root: presently, a suite of world-class mobile, web, and server-based products obsessed with the customer experience. We’re looking for somebody to help ensure the reliability of these app’s features by joining our Quality Assurance team. The Quality Assurance team is a highly collaborative group of individuals that partners with our other engineering and product teams to thoroughly test app functionality and help maintain our reputation as a dependable and revolutionary insurance provider.

Things that you'll be doing:

New Features

- Work with product and engineering teams to finalize requirements

- Identify areas to improve the customer experience as designs are being finalized

- Write thorough test plans to ensure that all required and reasonably likely use cases are covered

- Work with other QA team members to verify that new features work as expected by executing manual test plans

- Perform exploratory testing to ensure that not only intended but also likely use cases function as desired

Regression Testing

- Develop strong familiarity with existing app functionality and underlying business model

- Perform manual regression testing on both platforms (Android and iOS) using multiple devices

- Perform exploratory testing to ensure that not only intended but also likely use cases function as desired

Web Testing

- Test Root product websites against standard Web best practices

- Cross-browser testing in supported Web and mobile browsers

- Functional testing of all Web features

Bug Reporting

- Document clear steps for bug reproduction

- Triage bug reports to appropriate teams

- Keep track of bug life cycle and verify bug fixes

Documentation

- Help maintain QA testing documentation

- Help maintain app functionality documentation

Requirements

• Experience writing manual test scripts against requirements and design documentation
• Experience working in both iOS and Android platforms
• Experience testing against Web best practices
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively
• Outstanding attention to detail and commitment to quality

Desired Qualifications

• 2+ years experience manually testing software applications
• Familiarity with agile workflows
• Basic command-line proficiency
• Familiarity with Web Accessibility best practices and testing
