Job Description
As a member of the Diesel Engine Performance team within LPSD, you will serve as an individual contributor on complex and exciting projects. You will have the opportunity to be an integral part of the performance and emissions development of Caterpillar's C175 engines that are utilized in the Electric Power, Mining, and Rail industries.
Primary responsibilities will include developing engine systems efficiently with focus on optimizing engine performance and emissions. This includes coordinate engine testing, conducting analysis, and developing ECM calibrations for new and existing products.
The candidate will be expected to ensure tests are run on schedule and to provide regular updates to management and technical leadership. Documentation of work accomplished along with stakeholder updates will be required on completion of projects. This role will require developing strong peer relationships and collaboration with a global team.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Create, manage, and execute test plans and associated PMO updates
- Perform complex analysis work, identify, and solve challenging problems
- Develop engine performance calibrations that meet emissions and customer requirements
- Create technical reports
- Communicate technical information to technical leadership and management
- Mentor and train new engineers on processes/procedures for engine development
- Collaborate with a global team across multiple functional areas
- Perform work in accordance with ISO 17025 and BIG (Built In Quality) processes
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited curriculum or bachelor's degree with 4 years of engine testing experience.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Experience with diesel engine testing, calibration, simulation, or controls
- Caterpillar product development experience
- Self-starter with the ability to perform complex assignments
- The ability to work/lead multiple projects and to make sound priority decisions
- Strong communication skills complemented by the ability to develop technical presentations
- Experience with 1-D engine performance simulation tools (Destiny / GT Power)
