Industrial Power Systems Division - Large (IPSD-L) Engines Electrification team currently has an opening for a Senior Engineer - Configuration. This configuration engineer role has responsibility for integrating power systems into machines, with a focus on ensuring the configuration meets machine requirements. The IPSD Product Line team delivers diesel engine systems and advanced power systems, to meet market requirements from concept through to production phase.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
This position represents the journey level position within design engineering. The key role of a Sr. Engineer - Configurator/Systems Integrator is that of contributor to the planning and delivery of a project. Success factors for a Sr. Engineer - Configurator/Systems Integrator include:

• Accountable for contributing to the concept, development, and design of complex components, subsystems, or processes.
• Demonstrate excellent analytical skills and a mastery of engineering concepts.
• Meet goals for cost, reliability, and performance, while managing multiple priorities and projects.
• Keep up-to-date on changing customer needs as the project progresses, stay current with new technology, and provide guidance and direction on the project to other engineers, technologists, and technicians.
• On-time delivery for new product introductions, completing milestones throughout the project.
• Cascade system configuration requirements to team members, working in collaborative environment to deliver product requirements.
• Collaborate with internal Caterpillar Advanced Power Products team and Machine Product Groups to ensure application and installation meet requirements, working through validation needs.
• Design, evaluate, and promote new components, products, and processes.
• Perform continuous product improvement and maintenance for existing configurations.
• Communicate technical information to customers, team members, suppliers, and other business units.
• Support and advise other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, machine groups, and purchasing.

Basic Qualifications:

• Requires a Bachelors degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum
• 5+ years of engineering experience or experience in systems integration
• ProE, Creo, VisMockup, and 3D modeling experience
• Teamcenter database management experience
• Excellent MS Office expertise
• Proven ability to perform complex assignments, prioritize workload, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills to deal with sensitive, emotional, or potentially controversial situations.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

• Understanding of alternate power sources such as batteries, hydrogen fuel cells, and integration into machine systems.
• Understanding in diesel engines, engine systems, and integration into machine systems.
• Prior exposure to Commercial Processes, Price List Creation, PACN, PLCN, Change Tracking System.
• Familiarity with various Caterpillar Systems (TMI, EOMP, CSQ, EDDC, APQP, and other technical, drawing, and operations systems)
• Ability to identify problems and work towards resolution.
• Effectively communicate technical information concisely and accurately.
• Demonstrate excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform complex assignments.
