Job Description

Motorola Solutions is looking for site reliability engineers to help build and maintain our highly available and critical SAAS platform in the AWS cloud. Our customers depend on our services to keep their environments secure from cyber-threats and this role is critical to delivering the solutions they depend on. 

The ideal candidates have a passion for reliability engineering and making cloud-based systems run securely and always at peak performance. You will help us keep the cyber criminals out of hospitals, schools and other places which directly affect real people.

Responsibilities 

• Supporting the product engineering team through activities such as system design consulting, developing software platforms and capacity planning

• Maintaining our products by measuring and monitoring availability, latency, and overall system health

• Scaling components sustainably through mechanisms like automation

• Improving overall reliability and engineering velocity by pushing meaningful changes to any component of the product

• Integrations with third party security solutions and event sources

• Leading incident response, conducting RCAs and participating in periodic on call duties

• Proven ability troubleshooting production problems

• Infrastructure-as-code and concepts and tooling such as Chef, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform and AWS Cloudformation

Desired Skills

• Prior experience working as an SRE

• Knowledge of Jenkins or a similar CI/CD pipeline

• Experience with Azure Cloud or Google GCP

• Implementing cloud-native / microservices solutions using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, SQS, EC2, VPC, IAM

• Strong understanding of Javascript language principles, its modern use, and application to web development.

• Experience delivering multi-tenant Software-as-a-Service in a commercial product environment

• Use of big data analytics tools such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, Hive, Elasticsearch

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Professional or Associates certification

• RHCE

Basic Requirements

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related program

• 5+ years of experience as a software or systems engineer deploying on Linux servers

• 5+ years professional experience writing any of C, C++, Go or Python

• 1+ years of hands-on experience of production workloads in AWS

• 2+ years knowledge of RDBMS and NoSQL database architecture and administration such as Postgres and Redis
