Echo Global Logistics, Inc. has an opening for a Senior Software Engineer. This position reports to our office in Chicago, Illinois, but telecommuting is permitted from anywhere in the U.S.
Contribute to the engineering of large-scale solutions to enable Echo's business while supporting the strategic architectural vision of quality, scalability, performance, and function. Perform Principal Accountability and Technical Planning, and contribute to technical design including high-level conceptual diagram, Entity Relationship Diagrams, and service contracts. Perform software development as an active member of a product team that solves complex challenges and builds working software while developing with awareness for team members' needs. Address technical debt constantly and make key escalation decisions depending on risk factors (time or quality). Produce high quality code, as well as fast, dependable, and highly skilled development resources for peers. Promote collective code ownership so that everyone has visibility into the feature codebase, commanding a broad awareness of related projects. Mentor team members and provide development expertise to team members through education and Principal Accountability review. Release Activities Supports and be accountable for timely releases and adherence to release activities. Resolve defects in a timely and effective manner by identifying tactical risks and raising/resolving issues effectively. Contribute to merge up/down through development process, ensuring that operational teams are effective during deployment (dry-run or production). Maintain awareness of infrastructure requirements/constraints and carry out root cause analysis on defects to ensure fixes are happening in accordance with Principal Accountability. Work hand-in-hand with Product Owner to break down user stories into small functional slices. Encourage integration and promote obtaining shared goals with team members.
Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Electronic Engineering, or related field, and five years of experience as a software engineer or similar role.
  • Five years of software engineering experience including business application development;
  • Five years of experience developing Microsoft BizTalk Server artifacts;
  • Five years of experience developing C# applications;
  • Five years of experience with design and development of MS SQL Server databases and database objects;
  • Three years of experience developing SQL Server Integration Services packages;
  • Two years of experience administering multi server Microsoft BizTalk Server groups; and
  • Experience writing PowerShell scripts, including writing design documentation and technical requirements.
