Department Overview

28Labs is the Chief Technology Office and innovation engine for Motorola Solutions. We are user-focused and outcome-driven, identifying problems and creating solutions based on research and engagement with our customers.

Considering our customers' unique "jobs to be done" is a foundational principle of 28Labs. Based on their needs, we create solutions by applying our experience in user experience and design, advanced wireless communications and solutions, cloud & mobile application architecture, cyber security, user & human factors research, imaging, analytics, and artificial intelligence (AI).

Software and hardware technology and platform solutions developed by 28Labs form the basis of many products and solutions offered by Motorola Solutions. We also manage the Motorola Solutions Venture Capital investments and intellectual property across the company.

Job Description

• This person will work in the CTO’s Emerging Solutions Team in realizing customer-focused, differentiated solutions that have significant revenue potential for the Company.

• Responsibilities will range from driving solutions to designing, coding, modifying, testing, and deploying software:

  • Utilize state-of-the-art browser techniques and frameworks to realize customer multimedia portals.

  • Create web APIs and SDKs to integrate with to integrate with the user-facing front-end websites, optimize the applications for maximum speed and scalability, implement security and data protection, and design/implement data storage solutions.

Desired Skills/Experience:

• High ownership and self sufficient individual to drive quality and maintain software stability.

• Strong ability and enthusiasm to learn new technologies in a short time.

• Strong understanding of cross-browser compatibility, Web User Interface Design (UI) and Object-Oriented Design

• Excellent Debugging skills to solve challenging problems

• Performance analysis and tuning experience including memory usage, CPU utilization, leak checking, etc

• Knowledge/experience with both client and infrastructure (web services)

• Knowledge/experience in software development tools (e.g. Git, VS, Gerrit, …), testing, process (agile, kanban) and configuration management is a plus

• Knowledge/experience with Azure DevOps is a plus

• Strong teamwork, written and oral communication skills

Basic Requirements

• BS (or MS) in Computer Science

• Deep expertise and hands on experience with Web Applications and programming languages such as JavaScript, Angular, HTML, HTML5, CSS, CSS3 and API's.

• Deep functional knowledge or hands on design experience with RESTful APIs and OAS/Swagger, Multimedia Content Development.
