Jellyvision is hiring a Software Engineer II
Jellyvision’s headquarters is in Chicago, and, post-COVID, many of us will be returning to the Chicago offices (by choice, not requirement -- our philosophy is “Flexible First”). But this position is also eligible for work by a remote employee out of CA, FL, GA, IL, KY, MA, MI, MN, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, TX, UT, WA, or WI.

How you’ll help
As a Software Engineer in the Chat team, you’ll spend your days designing and building performant, reliable, and maintainable features for our flagship product. You’ll solve impactful business problems and make sure they stay solved by writing tests.
What you’ll do
- Design clean, straightforward solutions to problems
- Collaborate with the team (e.g. designers, writers, implementers) to define high level system requirements
- Write maintainable, reliable, and performant code
- Give and receive constructive code review feedback
- Ensure the team maintains Jellyvision’s values, standards, and best practices
- Foster an inclusive team environment
Experience & skills you’ll need
- 3+ years of relevant full stack experience
- Strong software design chops
- Solid software engineering fundamentals
- An understanding of how to build and maintain web applications with a modern frontend framework (like Typescript and React), as well as a modern backend framework (like Express and GraphQL)
- Committed to testing their code using frameworks (like Jest or Mocha) as a part of writing it
- The ability to build performant, reliable, and maintainable code
- A passion for code quality and strong problem solver
- An excellent giver and receiver of constructive code review feedback
- Solid software engineering fundamentals
- Horrified at the thought of working without Source Control
- Experienced developing software with Git (familiarity with git-flow would be another bonus)
- Docker and DevOps skills (not required, but definitely a plus)
