The Industrial Power Systems Division -Large Engines (C9.3 - C18) currently has an opening for a Senior Engineer - Configuration. This IPSD Large Engines configuration engineer role has responsibility for integrating C9.3 - C18 engines into machines, with a focus on ensuring the engine configuration meets machine requirements. The IPSD Product Line team delivers engines and engine systems to meet market requirements from concept through to production phase.
This position represents the journey level position within design engineering. The key role of a Sr. Engineer - Configurator/Systems Integrator is that of contributor to the planning and delivery of a project. This position will be accountable for contributing to the concept, development, and design of complex components, subsystems, or processes.

  • Demonstrate excellent analytical skills and a mastery of engineering concepts
  • Meet goals for cost, reliability, and performance, while managing multiple priorities and projects
  • Keep up-to-date on changing customer needs as the project progresses, stay current with new technology, and provide guidance and direction on the project to other engineers, technologists, and technicians.
  • On-time delivery for new product introductions, completing milestones throughout the project
  • Cascade engine system configuration requirements to engine team members, working in collaborative environment to deliver product requirements
  • Collaborate with product groups to ensure application and installation meet engine requirements, working through validation needs
  • Design, evaluate, and promote new components, products, and processes
  • Perform continuous product improvement and maintenance for existing configurations
  • Communicate technical information to customers, team members, suppliers and other business units
  • Support and advise other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, machine groups, and purchasing.


Basic Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelors degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum
  • 5+ years of engineering experience
  • ProE, Creo, VisMockup, and 3D modeling experience
  • Teamcenter database management experience
  • Excellent MS Office expertise
  • Proven ability to perform complex assignments, prioritize workload, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.


Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Understanding of diesel engines, engine systems, and installation into machines
  • Prior exposure to Commercial Processes, Price List Creation, PACN, PLCN, Change Tracking System
  • Familiarity with various Caterpillar Systems (TMI, EOMP, CSQ, EDDC, APQP, and other technical, drawing, and operations systems)
  • Requires a self-starter with strong technical leadership skills.
  • Ability to identify problems and work towards resolution
  • Effectively communicate technical information concisely and accurately
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical skills and the ability to perform complex assignments.
  • Capability to work in global engineering environment
