Wellspring is building our DevOps culture and we want your help with the delivery of a modern SaaS platform. We are a small Linux engineering team who works closely with developers and clients to implement the technologies to maintain and improve our hosting systems and deployment pipelines. Reporting directly to our IT Operations Manager, this is an exciting growth opportunity for a self-starting and resourceful professional.
We’re looking for someone who has strong Linux administration skills, who wants to grow into a more automation focused role.
Our Environment:
● Almost completely AWS, in 8 different regions, with full cross-AZ architecture

● Large array of Python scripts for common tasks
● Internally developed Python library for admin functions
● Deployment pipeline fronted by Hubot, a chat-based automation wrapper

Responsibilities:
● Deployment, troubleshooting, and cost optimization of our worldwide AWS hosting infrastructure
● Maintenance of configuration management and deployment systems to support the above
● Collaboration with development, other teams, and clients, providing technical support and advice
● Enhancing resiliency and redundancy of our hosting platforms
● Expand reach of our automation and apply ChatOps principles where appropriate
● Create and maintain technical procedures and documentation
● Response, resolution, and root cause analysis of service issues
● Maintain the office IT infrastructure including laptops, printers, WiFi, and VoIP
● Tackle long-term growth projects surrounding scaling, search, and data storage
Requirements:
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal teams and external clients
● Linux hosting experience (LAMP stack or similar) in a production environment
● Strong scripting experience with Python or Bash
● Experience with at least some of the following: Puppet, Apache, Nginx, MySQL, RethinkDB, Solr, Hadoop, PHP, Ruby, AWS, Heroku
● Understanding of HTTP, SSL/TLS, and TCP/IP
Preferred:
● Experience with virtualization: KVM, Xen, VMWare
● Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture
● Exposure to database administration and scaling
● Experience instilling values and practices consistent with a strong DevOps and ChatOps culture
● Experience with development and automated testing
● Familiarity with federated authentication via SAML or other protocols
● Experience with information security: federal computing standards, auditing, and pen testing
