The Upgrade Operations (UO) department specializes in performing software and hardware upgrades on live customer systems. The UO department focus is on minimizing the customer's downtime during software upgrades in order to optimize their upgrade experience during the moments that matter.
Job Description

Upgrade Field Engineering Manager is responsible for the delivery of the Services ASTRO SUA business for the assigned Territory. This individual will manage up to 15 direct MSI badged upgrade engineers as part of the technical delivery team. They will also be responsible for the technical oversight and management of Motorola Service Shops performing upgrade tasks. This individual will be accountable for the upgrade implementation, sustainment, and management of all mission critical customer communications system SUA contracts. Success is measured in terms of overall customer satisfaction, on schedule delivery of the upgrade, team utilization and cost containment to set budgets.

Skills Required:

  • Experience/knowledge in radio communication systems
  • Experience managing technical personnel. Engineers, Technicians, MSS.
  • Experience, good understanding, and working knowledge in IP networking, network design methodologies & troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS)
  • Experience directly working with end-user customers is desirable
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to present complex topics to nontechnical audiences.
  • Self motivated and able to maintain focus in a pressured environment


Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Networking, IT, Cyber Security or Information Systems
