The Role:
Crafty is seeking an experienced Event Manager to become an instrumental part of our team! The Event Manager will sit at the helm of a tight ship: managing client event spaces, bartender staff schedules, and catering orders. This Event Manager will constantly liaise with our clients to become their go-to contact at Crafty.
The Event Manager will also receive event requests and dialogue with clients about proposals, bar & catering menus, and all the logistical details. From procuring supplies to being on-site, this position will oversee the entire end-to-end process of our events program, hustling to get things done with an air of calm and cool. The client always comes first: the Event Manager prepares diligently and thinks on the fly to make sure the quality of service is always immaculate.
We are looking for a detail fanatic who enjoys getting their hands dirty. Crafty is a growing team: we want the Event Manager to potentially lead our events program in Chicago. Powered by long-term creative strategies, the Event Manager is excited to author endless, fresh ideas for the events program and for Crafty at large.
This role will report to our Director of Events.

When we first launched on December 1, 2015, our business was a craft beer marketplace that delivered delicious, small-batch local craft beers to offices throughout the city. We have since evolved into a food, beverage, and events management platform for offices in Chicago. Some of our biggest name customers are Google, Uber, Yelp, Salesforce, Trunk Club, WeWork, and Coyote Logistics! Your experience:
You have extensive experience across the full spectrum of event management - from strategy to execution. Whether your experience comes from the corporate sector or from the entertainment industry, we want to hear from you.
You’ve put on a huge variety of events for some big clients. At this point, nothing really surprises you, and you’ve seen it all.
You have a superior understanding of Chicago’s culture, dining, and entertainment venues. From decor vendors to DJs, you have contacts up your sleeve.
You have a flexible schedule. You’ve woken up at the crack of dawn to set up, and burned the midnight oil to keep the party bumpin’.
You are:
Extraordinarily organized. Detail-orientation is an absolute must. You have tried-and-true methods in your arsenal for staying organized and on top of it all.
Extremely hard working. We are a startup with the mentality that no job is too big or too small for us. You hustle because that’s just how you work.
Adaptable. You know that in the events world, you could have all your careful plans derailed on the day of the event. You know how to stay motivated and adapt as an event goes on.
Calm and collected in the line of fire. This is crucial in joining our events team. On a day where everything that could go wrong has gone wrong, you find a way to stay positive.
Incredibly personable. Personality is everything, and you have to be a people person to succeed in this role - both face to face and in email correspondence.
