The Accounting Manager will be a leader on the Accounting team and report directly to the Controller. This role will own the month end close process, work closely with business partners across the organization as new products are launched, implement best practices for the Accounting team, and handle day-to-day operational challenges as they arise. A strong candidate will have a proven track record of process improvement along with an appetite to build out a robust Accounting department.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead all operations related to the department including month end close, general ledger activity, daily settlement reporting, treasury, and payables
  • Manage and execute the monthly financial close process including preparation and delivery of financial reporting and analytics to internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage, mentor and provide development opportunities for team members
  • Partner closely with the Finance team by providing key insights and visibility into financial results
  • Assist in developing accounting processes and procedures as new products are launched
  • Continuously evaluate areas for process improvement and automation

What you'll bring:

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in public accounting or relevant industry experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA required
  • Thorough working knowledge of US GAAP, technical accounting standards and internal controls
  • Experience working with startups, specialty finance or FinTech a plus
  • Proven capability to streamline processes and build out accounting function for new products
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet aggressive deadlines, while remaining detail oriented and organized

  • Prior experience with ASC 326 and secured debt facilities
  • Experience with NetSuite
  • Demonstrated leadership and management abilities
  • Prior experience implementing accounting processes and procedures for new product lines
  • SQL Experience (PostgreSQL is a plus!)

Our company is located in the heart of downtown with great access to public transportation (both Metra & CTA), coffee shops, and restaurants. Currently our teams are working remotely for the foreseeable future.
