Commercial Loan Originator
What will your day look like?
In addition to identifying, developing and maintaining correspondent lending relationships with specified commercial mortgage bankers across the country, you would be responsible for effectively conveying and enforcing lending standards and parameters established by the business lending management team. You will closely partner with the commercial underwriting and closing/servicing teams to create a seamless experience that puts customer service at the fore. Furthermore, you would be responsible for assisting the Manager, Commercial Loan Originations with compiling performance statistics, dissecting and analyzing these figures, and presenting associated findings and insights to various internal committees when called upon.

- Working to identify and enter into correspondent relationships with highly regarded mortgage bankers in select markets nationally
- Deepening aforementioned relationships and exit those that are unproductive
- Originating and closing $125MM+ of loans annually that comply with MBL credit standards
- Conducting preliminary review of loan opportunities and collaborating with Commercial Lending Underwriters to ensure accuracy and completeness of all loan submittals
- Procuring all materials needed to fully analyze and advance associated transactions to underwriting
- Collaborating with Commercial Lending Underwriters to gather all materials necessary for annual credit reviews
- Assisting leadership with compiling reports, and special projects as requested
- Responding to inquiries by auditors and examiners
- Supporting the Credit Union's strong relationship culture through on-going customer contact, quality customer service and superior product knowledge
- Staying abreast of industry developments through membership in trade associations, trade journal subscriptions and attendance at seminars and conferences
Qualifications
What makes you a great fit?
You’ll be a great fit if in addition to the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Management (or a related field) with a minimum of 5 years in commercial real estate lending in a bank, credit union, CMBS or an institutional lending environment you have/can:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational, collaborative and consultative skills
- Thorough knowledge of credit and strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Experience working with Mortgage Broker a plus
- The ability to gather, compile and synthesize financial data required to ascertain credit risk
- Travel up to 50% (required)
