Position Description:
The Director of Internal Audit- Business Strategy is responsible for developing and evaluating strategies for the business unit. The Director plays a pivotal role in ensuring the success of Internal Audit as a function and ensuring value is provided to the company. This role supports department leadership, including the CAE and Vice Presidents, in continually improving Audit’s perceived and actual value and driving a culture of continuous improvement. Responsible for direction and oversight of teams that manage department operations and communication as well as board level reporting
Responsibilities:
Manages and interprets Finance-provided data on business unit performance. Partners with Finance representatives to understand company priorities and the impact to Internal Audit. Identifies and implements simple and informative measures to track progress and works with department leadership and Finance to update on progress and adjust as necessary.
Guides strategy development teams in addressing pressing business issues. Engages with department leadership and related business partners to identify and address current challenges. Guides team and leadership in balancing addressing current challenges with longer term strategic program changes. Manages both current challenges and longer term strategic changes.
Manages talent acquisition and development activities. Partner with department leadership on talent assessment and needs and work with HR and others on strategies for addressing needs. Work with department leadership and direct reports to identify training and development needs and develop annual and ongoing training program to address needs.
Manages direct reports and daily operations of the department including but not limited to audit committee reporting; methodology change management process; regulatory requests and interactions; quality assurance program; dynamic planning and risk assessment processes; department events, communication, and engagement programs.
Provides logistical support and thought leadership for many of the activities intended to set strategic direction and maintain alignment within business unit (e.g., managing weekly Senior Operations staff meetings, participating in business unit scorecard and process reviews, organizing and conducting periodic strategy sessions for officers and directors and coordinating the creation of Executive Committee and Board-level presentations).
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree required.
8+ years of Financial Services, Management Consulting or related experience. In Lieu of education, 15+ years of experience required.
2+ years of people management experience
Audit Experience and knowledge of IPPF highly preferred
Experience running an Internal Audit professional practices team for a large Internal Audit department preferred
Strong written and verbal communication.
