The Role

The Director of Tax, Insurance and Treasury will play a critical role in the growth of our Finance department. You will be responsible for overseeing and directing all aspects of the company’s income tax, insurance and cash flow management related functions. Responsibilities may include developing and documenting policies, procedures and internal controls. You will also be responsible for the management of cash flow reporting, banking relationships, insurance and risk management, cash forecasting, travel and credit card program administration and systems administration. You must possess strong business acumen with the ability to effectively address both financial and operational challenges. Most importantly, you must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, start-up culture such as GTI.

Reponsibilities

  • Directs and manages the income tax provision process including current and deferred tax calculations
  • Ensures the company’s strategy for 280E is fully supportable and deployed appropriately
  • Manages tax planning strategies including transfer pricing studies
  • Directs and manages the company’s banking activities and relationships
  • Directs and coordinates the risk management function including securing policies, developing relationships, and identifying risks and opportunities
  • Manages and administers travel and credit card programs including policy administration and compliance
  • Identifies new capabilities and opportunities available in the marketplace and works to properly analyze and present to Senior Management
  • Analyzes vendor proposals (cash transport services, software providers, merchant card services, etc.)
  • Manages the cash forecasting and reporting processes
  • Ensures implementation of requisite system changes to support the business units and new programs
  • Directs the documentation of Treasury related policies while ensuring a proper framework of internal controls
  • Coordinates and fulfills miscellaneous compliance duties, such as sales and use tax filings, personal property taxes, workers comp audits and other compliance projects, as required
  • Supports the quarterly and annual audit process
  • Supports mergers and acquisition related activity as needed
  • Responds to one-time and ongoing due diligence requests from financial institutions, state regulators, etc.
  • Coordinates income tax filings and other compliance projects, as required
  • Mentors, coaches, and develops employees through orientation, training, goal setting and communication while ensuring team engagement and morale

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 10 plus years of experience working in a related role including at least 5 years of management experience with direct reports
  • Proven knowledge of tax, accounting and finance principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness
  • Adapts and thrives in a demanding, start-up, fast-paced environment
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, non-verbal, written), with the ability to build relationships at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Possesses a high level of critical thinking
  • Operates with a high level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information
  • High attention to detail and accuracy

We operate across multiple states nationwide, so the biggest technical challenge can be the lack of clarity on what can and cannot be done.
